There are few properties as beloved as Narnia which require a live-action. Disney attempted but never continued. Netflix said they're going to produce one but it's been years. Well, today I fan cast the main supporting roles for the Lion the witch and the wardrobe. I cast Alsan, Diggory Kirk, The white witch and Mr. Tumnus.

The first two Narnia movies hold a very special place in my heart. While they were overshadowed by better films(LOTRs, the GOAT, Harry Potter et.c), they had a sense of charm and whimsy to them. And also the CGI for the animals, like Aslon, still looks great. Fun fact; Markus and Mcfeeley of Infinity War, Civil War, and Endgame actually adapted the first Narnia movie. All in all, my hope is that Netflix can do what DIsney failed to do which is to make Narnia more approachable and consistent. Because with series, like House of the Dragon, it seems we're on the cusp of a reinassance of Fantasy coming back to TV/ Movies and my hope is that Narnia can be that kid who came back but more resilent and stronger than ever. Sorry for my soapbox; I hope everyone has a good day.

They were some of my favourite films growing up, helped by the fact my mum would read us the books as bedtimes stories. They were more child like than LOTR, and had better story/characters and more whimsy than Harry Potter (and dont have their author lol). They really felt like Lord of the Rings for kids, coming from a similar time. An epic fairy-tale if you will. Its a shame the last movie underperformed and the cast didnt get a chance to fully complete the story. But I also think its a world that really deserves to be up there with franchises like Harry Potter and LOTR, and deserves another chance, even if it does become more commercialised if it successful.

CS Lewis is a little too vague in his writing, and also quite cynical such as when Aslan Just tells Lucy That she will never be coming back to Narnia so harshly at the end of Dawn treader, compared to how they handled it not to mention peters expedition of it at the end of Prince Caspian much better and much more thoughtful in the movies. Sure, J. K. Rowling does have some elements of that in the first two Harry Potters, but overall Has her characters and writing be much more gripping, connecting and sophisticated. And as for your problems with her, well you and everyone else who thinks so are the ones who truly have problems. She can actually think for herself, let alone critically and factually. Not to mention of regardless of what you can say against her, the way that you’re acting and reacting towards her proves that you do not deserve all that you are against her for, not to mention that you’re completely contradicting and doing the very thing that you’re accusing her of doing, EH? Taking away something that truly defines what someone is let alone something that will still be beloved and beneficial Far far more than what you and literally everyone else you know will ever do with their lives, with all due respect, but that’s the facts :)

1:07 - You should hear the Flemish dub of the movies. They used a local actor called Vic De Wachter and he has probably the most god-like voice you can imagine. Perfect casting in terms of re-dubbing a movie.

Dude I loved the first 2 films, and even find a lot of enjoyment in Dawn Treader. They're like LOTR for kids. More whimsical and magical feeling that Harry Potter because they're not Urban Fantasy with broken worldbuilding, but high fantasy, fairy-tales crossed with epics. They absolutely deserve a second chance to become on the level LOTR is today, with C.S Lewis being as revered as Tolkien is. 0:19 and, I completely disagree with that statement. I adored these films as a kid. Im really hoping Netflix dont 1 Americanise it, or 2 take away that whimsy and wonder, like dont make it edgy, just keep it an epic fairy-tale. Oh also, lol they're never going to live up to the score of the originals. One of absolute best parts of the films.

I was thinking Gwendoline Christie or Ruth Wilson would be great as the White Witch. However, Cate Blanchett is perfect casting for a Narnia reboot in the and bring a similar, but unique performance that Tilda Swinton brought to the role.

Stephen Fry would make an outstanding Digory. Tumnus actor I’m not familiar with but what I saw convinced me. My only concern with Alba is that he needs to have a warm and booming godlike voice and Alba doesn’t really exude that. As for Blanchet my only concern is that it would be too similar to Swinton although especially her role in Golden Compass I think Kidman would be a much better pick. Bring newness to the role as both a force of nature and a seductress. Still can’t wait to hear your continued castings and I do hope you go beyond the movies

I love your choices, but I had some slightly different thoughts: Aslan: For some reason I sensed Idris Elba before you said the name, but I would like to go a bit more Shakespearean. I love the idea of Ian McKellen with that gravelly, booming tone, but it could be a little bit too on the nose and Gandalfy, so I think Timothy Dalton is my pick. I loved how grand he was as Rassilon in Doctor Who, and I think he could bring that same power and agelessness to Aslan, but more on the good side. Mr Tumnus: I loved your pick. I think that Dean Charles Chapman would also be a great option for a slightly younger, more innocent Mr Tumnus, but tbh I don't think I can beat Nathan McMullen. Diggory Kirke: Personally I don't like Stephen Fry in serious movies because I just see him as the guy from QI - it takes me out a bit. I think that Michael Sheen or Hugh Bonneville would be my pick. Both have that little twinkle in their eye that I think the character needs, with Sheen leaning slightly more on the impish side of things than Bonneville. I'm leaning slightly more towards Bonneville because he feels closer to how I envision child Diggory in The Magician's Nephew. Finally, The White Witch: Cate Blanchett is the obvious choice but I agree with other commenters that it could end up being quite close to Tilda Swinton's portrayal. I think Nicole Kidman is the wrong kind of ice for me. Borrowing more from her description in The Magician's Nephew, I think Gwendolyn Christie would be a great physical match as a very imposing beauty, but she's possibly a little too warm. As a result I think my choice would actually be Elizabeth Debicki - tall, statuesque, and with a gaze so cold and piercing it could shatter glass. I would be really interested to see where she takes it. So yeah: Aslan: Timothy Dalton Mr Tumnus: Nathan McMullen Diggory Kirke: Hugh Bonneville The White Witch: Elizabeth Debicki

Debicki is a very good choice. The White Witch is meant to be very tall, and she is like 6' 3" or something like that. I disagree on Gwendoline Christie as to my mind as she just has a more imposing "I am dangerous" presence. Never seen her as especially warm.

One note on Jadis. Something the movies did wrong, or too well depending on how you look at it, was making her seem too powerful. Don't get me wrong, she should be a very powerful figure. But when standing next to Aslan, she should feel like nothing compared to him. In the books, Jadis trembles at his name, can barely speak in his presence, and ran away in fear when he roared. This was a conscious decision by Lewis. Evil is not the rival of good. It is not a duality. Evil is nothing when good is present. With that said, both actresses you chose felt right. This would just be meant for the writing.

I feel like this is the best recasting to chime my two cents in. I definitely liked your directions for most of the characters, but here's what I came up with. Aslan - Keith David. Definitely the same gravitas as Idres Elba, but I think delivers a more appropriate tone. Mr. Tumbnus - You definitely bring up a good point about the height, but going based on acting I have a feeling for either Harris Dickenson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Paul Mescal, or Richard Madden. A diverse bunch, but they would each have their own unique yet still appropriate take on the character. Digory Kirke - To be honest, I don't really have any strong opinions on this one, but even though it would be impossible, for some reason when you were describing the character all I could think of was Robin Williams. If he were still around today, by this point in his career he would have been a great choice. The White Witch - Definitely some strong contenders, but I have to say Kidman and Blanchett would feel like imitations of Swinton's performances. I'd say there needs to be a different take on the character that still conveys the same direction and emotions. That's why I'd go for someone like Jessie Buckley who's really become a strong rising performer in the last few years.

I think the Narnia films fell down because they focused more on the Pevensie children rather than the story of Narnia itself. I don't know what C.S.Lewis had in mind but I'd say the characters were merely a lens through which to see the world of Narnia, in a similar way that Tolkien created middle earth to to act as the place were the language of elvish could be spoken. it got fleshed out to incorporate the other aspects that drive the story, but unless we can see the original purpose of the story, we can't recreate it on screen with the same depth as the original work. I say that because in order to cast Diggory Kirk, we need to remember that it was his adventures into Narnia that was the first book, so finding someone who could play the younger Diggory and then find an Actor to base on that characterization is more important than just going off the energy given by the actor you can't use due to recasting. i like the idea of Stephen Fry in the Role but since we don't know the younger version of the character, we can't write him in as a definite. Similar with the white witch. personally i would have gone with Gwendolyn Christy as Jadus and saved Cate Blanchet for the role as the Lady of the Green Curtal in The Silver Chair. I think Gwendolyn would carry the power and ferocity of the role well and it would do well in the battle scenes. Cate's cool, serene aura would do much better in the limited but still seductive role in The Silver Chair.

Galadriel is actually pretty similar to the white witch in a way. Kinda androgynous, commanding but ethereal and her beauty perhaps deceives and can be used against you.. most of all her desire for power and dominion. (Blend two monikers given to her even in the name- the white lady and as the rohirrim and gimli called her once “witch”

For Mr. Tumnus I thought "Elijah Woods". For another casting/recasting series, I'd recommend a lesser-known book series from the 2000s called "The Tunnels", which was supposed to have a movie adaptation, but it never got even a trailer, unfortunately.

I would have loved the entire Narnia series, particularly "Horse and His Boy" where a more diverse cast is presented with both Archland and the Calormen. But I'm interested in your Hogwarts Legacy live-action cast, and maybe a modern-day "Dracula". Prof. Van Helsing, Mina, Jonathan and the Suitors are the OG Fellowship, and never get respect they deserved.

Alright, you had me at most of the actors, but lost me at Blanchett. I argue there is one actress more fitting for Jadis, and that’s Gwendoline Christie. She had the gravitas, the power, and in my opinion, she resembles how the witch was described in the books better. She was the child of a giant, so it would make sense to cast someone with that physique.
