ReCategorizer: NEW Sorter Explained | Part 1 of 2 | Minecraft 1.19+/1.20+

This is what I needed to know about a few days ago before I started making a classic sorting system, but with multiple individual item sorters stacked on top of each other to sort multiple items to 1 chest. Resulting in an absolute massive setup that takes up like 30 blocks of height just to sort 6 items to one chest. This looks like a way more compact system, and easily editable for different categories.

The previous one is really cool, it's just very slow. This one works upto 4-6x faster at full tilt as you have unloading and sorting in parallel as well as all three sides of the room working in parallel from each other too. Really nice feature! Mizuma's the only person who can get me excited to play minecraft again with his sorter builds heh!

this idea of chaining categorizers was done by accident on my smp, and it was done in the most cursed way possible (i had two categorizers v1 stacked on top of each other, the time an item took to get to the unsorted chest was insane, since they were both massive systems that mostly ended up empty. why i had to build it in such an unconventional configuration is for another time), its cool to see that it actually works and you used it too, although in a much more intelligent way. i learned about the signal strength difference between 64 and 16 stackables the hardest way possible, at the time i didn't knew much about redstone nor storagetech and that system that was shared by the whole server broke a lot. these new filter chests are way more user-friendly then the old ones. this is an direct upgrade in all possible ways i can think of. great job cass.

I find it very interesting how people go crazy on their own builds when get their hands on flexible/expandable design. I guess Minecrafters just love massive projects and the people on your server might have pioneered the multi-section version of this sorter! I think it's a lot more viable now because control circuit on the side was immensely simplified. Thanks for the nice words!

I want to combine these slices with the shulker "compressing" function you had on your compressed storage. Seems like a convenient way to expand the capacity of the slice.

Just some ideas Since we already know where the items need to go (thanks to the cart), we should be able to use an instant dropper line to move the items. If we lock the instant dropper line at the point where the items need to be dropped off, we can then suck out the items from the dropper line using either a normal hopper or hopper cart and multiple hoppers. Feeding items into the dropper line would likely be the main "clog" in the system. Using a piston bolt on the hopper cart could speed up processing of categories (as long as it isn't too fast) if the hopper cart ran under the chests to suck out an item. [I'm thinking 1 item/game tick, then it moves to the next chest because of the piston bolt].

Just a quick question. Do you need a chunkloader for this system? I've built de last one but it kept breaking up die to my fellow players leaving the chunks while it was still busy.

First time building a sorting storage room such as this, so it may just be that I am messing with stuff beyond me. However, while rebuilding this system from the download, my bulk storage section there is one slice in the middle that won't sort. The redstone line behind it seems to be powered more than the other lines. How can I fix this? I have 41 of item to be sorted and 4 renamed items in the remaining spots. Any help is appreciated!

Currently working on duplicating this in my world. 2 questions. Why do you have dispensers shooting snowballs at the hoppers? Also why do you consider bone blocks a bulk block? The former might be covered in the tutorial when it comes out.

The curved rails are optional, to do it on the other direction you need power blocks such redstone torches or redstone blocks by the side of the rails. I made a GIF tutorial on my discord and I'll also show how to do it during the tutorial.

For some reason the unstackable items are getting stuck in the hoppers of the first line of chests where you have your first unstackable storage. Why don't they go to the end of the line?

this item sorter doesnt work. I was excited to build this in my survival world, but it sends every single item I input into the sorter into the 0-Category chests even though there is a space for the items to go. I dont know why and I would like to know how to fix it.

Haaaave you tried the world download ? And are you picking items from the item frames or from the creative inventory ?

@@MaizumaGames I had downloaded the world from your description. I think I found my mistake, I was using the items in the item frame and they might have been renamed. Sorry for making this comment. I will go check the world now to see if I was wrong. But either way, this build is very nice and it functioned for a little bit before stopping.

I'm currently building this in Survival. I'm at the point where there are regular rails that are curved, all right next to one another. I'm not sure how too make them curve without connecting to one another. Any tips?

This doesn't apply to everyone, but I just thought I would note that I made this system work in Paper Minecraft if you waterlog the standard rails leading up to the unloading hopper!

Yes, but you'd need to redesign your minecart unloader in order to not lose the banners.

I do not have the time or brain power to build this i want to cheat a bit and just copy and past into my world with structure blocks but it stops working when i do this. any idea why? please help me.

The short answer is: You can't reliably copy & paste redstone builds in Minecraft. When you paste redstone components they can get activated at a random order and with a lot of droppers, observers, hoppers and whatnot all firing at the same time the system breaks and you need to check and fix every component individually.

I believe it's likely to work on PaperMC but I haven't gotten confirmation. So far it's been reported to work on Purpur (in the context of plug-in servers) which is a good sign.

I made the non-stackables category be last one on purpose so it allows players to pull items from the last chests/hoppers into whatever system they want. In this video I show how it's possible to hook it up to a shulker box loader module but it could as well be an allay-based non-stackable item sorter module. Whatever makes it fun!

One minecart per side. This is design is supposed to be a good balance between efficiency and minimalism.

Because I am stupid and not good with redstone: Is this the kind of thing I should carefully *_not_* build in the spawn chunks, to avoid lagging the entire world?

Despite all the intimidating look it's not really laggy! You can download the world yourself and check the fps to test. What mostly contributes to lag in this build is the number of hoppers connected to double chests and item frames as entities which mostly got nothing to do with the redstone itself.

This is so cool but i dont understand how the minecart knows which category is what, does someone have an explanation because i can simply just not figure it out :P Edit: i have looked very carefully what the different components do, and i have a half understanding now. It's not the fastest machine on the market 😁! From my short tests it runs at about ~70% hopper speed on average, so if a hopper speed sorter can sort 9.0k items/h this one would do something like 6.3k item/h
