So……I totally appreciate your thoughts on all of this. And to be honest I follow a lot of booktubers but only watch their wrap ups and reviews. I’m not interested in TBR’s, book hauls, etc. I love hearing about books that I may or may not want to read. Your new path for your channel is perfect. And lastly I will say that I do a lot of crafting. I do it for fun and enjoyment. There were times I did it for commission or money and the pressure and expectation of having to do something fun - really changes it. So read for fun and then tell us about the books. Glad you’re back

Yes!! 👏 As a fellow mother of young kids, I know the value of the little free time I get, and the best thing I ever did for my mental health was stop compromising it with obligations. I'm so glad that you discovered what it is you needed, and are following that! I'm glad to see you posting again, but I know I always enjoy content the most when I can tell the creator is excited to make it, so I hope this is a positive change for you!

I appreciate it when people read what they feel like reading instead of reading what they feel pressured to read. I like to read a wide range of books (classics to new releases, romance to thrillers to literary fiction to sci fi, etc). It seems a bit stilted to only read only one niche simply because the algorithm has shoved you into that corner. Reading should be fun.

Great to hear your voice again. Your life comes first. That’s what makes your channel so good. You don’t pump out mindless content. When you do upload you have something smart to say. I'm thrilled to see a new video from you, although sad to hear the reasons behind your absence. As a definite mood reader, I totally get why you would want to do the same thing. Reading has to be enjoyed and I hope that your new set of "rules" will help you to savour it. As per the video, I do enjoy this more casual style as it does feel like we're simply in the middle of a conversation. I sincerely hope that we'll get to see you regularly, albeit less often, and share you love of books. I also understand the pressure of reading what just came out but that has always incompatible for me as I hate hardcover and prefer massmarket paperback, which tend to come out a few years after the release! 😂 Finally, if this isn't your main income source, please treat it as a hobby- something to do when you want to and have time to. I will miss your TBR with the dice though, but only being able to get through 24 books/year, I also get why this is unsustenable long-term. Please take care and see you whenever! ❤

I’ve missed your voice and am glad to see you again, and I’m glad that you took the time to rest and just be. We all need that! The Vimes group of DiscWorld books are my favorite, so I hope you enjoy them!! I don’t know what all is in that group, but I’d highly recommend Men at Arms, Feet of Clay, Thud, and Monstrous Regiment. (That last one only has a cameo of Vimes, but is so, so worth the read.) Not surprised you didn’t like the sequel to the Three Body Problem. I didn’t even like the first one much until the last chapter. And oh no about Poison Song! I convinced my library to buy that series so I could read it, and I liked the first one a lot, finally finished the second one, which I already felt was kind of a slog, though I’m still interested in how everything turns out. But I was already worried about Poison Song because the series has been going slightly downhill for me already. Sigh.

I’m glad you’re taking the pressure off. I never saw the point of all the different videos that BookTubers seem to think are necessary. Multiple videos seem wasted talking about the same books over and over again. It’s part of what has held me back from starting my own channel. I'm excited to see you back, Jessie. I'm incredibly happy about the decision to change your focus from popular books to what you're looking forward to reading. Last year, you mentioned The Splinter in the Sky by Kemi Ashing-Giwa in one of your anticipated relaces. That book was my favourite read of 2023. This was the first time anyone on BookTube had mentioned that book for me. Therefore, I'm so grateful for that video and for putting different authors and titles on my radar. So far, my favourite reads of 2024 are A Sign of Affection Vol. 1-7 by suu Morishita (some of them have been re-reads.), What She Ate: Six Remarkable Women and the Food That Tells Their Stories by Laura Shapiro, Coffee: 14 Caffeinated Tales of the Fantastic by Alex Shvartsman, P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See, You Sexy Thing by Cat Rambo, How to Be a Good Creature: A Memoir in Thirteen Animals by Sy Montgomery, and An American Beauty by Shana Abe. I'm looking forward to sharing our reading journey more this year. 🤞It's a good one.

Welcome back ❤🎉 I think as long as YT is just a fun side hustle, you can always just do whatever and however you pls (concerning content, frequency of uploads etc). Just those that do it full time will have to stress themselves about views etc. I am soooooo happy you are loving the Green Bone Saga. May I say I told you so / I knew it!? 😆 Our tastes are more often alike than not, so I would have been surprised if you felt otherwise. Discworld - I have only read the Death Collection, but like 15 years ago. Totally agree with you concerning the better and more disappointing ones. I loved Hogfather and Mort, Soul Music I thought was alright but also think that Thief of Time was the weakest. I want to read the Witches Collection some time soon.

I’ve been reading through Green Bone Saga trilogy too and I’ve been loving it. I’m nearly half through Jade Legacy and it’s amazing. Jade City and Jade War were the majority of my Fall given I was mostly reading a bit per day and on commutes, loving it every bit of the way through all the politics and controversial character judgment choices plus how the different character point of view chapters really illustrates how Janloon and the other cities featured work in relation to the power system (it’s not really a magic system, you could make a case for Sci-Fantasy) Such a top tier read.

Glad you were able to take a break that was important for your well being :) Honestly, if I were a booktuber, I'd be making videos just like that because I just couldn't any other way - but also because I only read like 12 books a year 😂 it's supposed to be a hobby and not something you feel pressure about! Also I really like the rambly conversation style, so don't you worry about the editing thing. You're the first person to describe Godkiller in a way that made me really interested, the aspect with the wgite lies kinda intrigues me (as I said, I don't read that many books, so I take a lot of time deciding what I'm gonna try and what not). Maybe I'll look out for it in the library now!

Don't take it as pressure. But i did miss your video's ❤. And it's oke to take time for yourself and dial it down a little. Everybody needs to take time for themselves or family. As for TBR's....i choose 40 books a year to read. And at the end i think i read 5 of those and 35 others hahaha. I am a moodreader too. But i keep tryijg to stick to a stack of books. But i fail so hard 😂😂😂

full time work AND 2 young kids is a lot and exhausting. I definitely couldn't do it!

I didn't like Shadow of the Gods either and didn't bother picking up Malice because I thought it would be similar 😅
