I've found hundreds of Sally Ride quarters and I'd say the majority have the ghost comet "error". I don't know what it is, but it seems to be extremely common. I don't keep them.

I'll gladly pay $54 for 3 rolls of new quarters, 1 from each mint. First off- you know factually that they weren't searched and re-wrapped- that alone is worth $24 to me. Thanks for that little tidbit of info bc I can't get a single roll of any coin from banks where I live, its sad actually but we have sketchy people to thank for that lol

The P mint is where you want to buy, they always have many errors, ask any one. I get the D mint coins but I reside in Calif., S but those are usually from proof sets. Please understand that if someone wants to help you, you would first have to send the money, once they get the money they send 0 zip nothing, so figure how you can work that deal and not be scammed! Good luck. I got coins to sell, not a buyer but all I hear about are get the coin graded ($140) or close to it then once you grade it, it may be worth more money but people aren’t stupid, there not going to pay thousands for a dime or pennie, however the Appraiser makes his money by recommending all to get coin graded, but they don’t even have buyers ready to buy a graded coin. Lots of scammers here on coins. Good luck

Unfortunately myriads of error coins presented in countless videos are pretty much "crap". There's so much of those defective coins of one type or another. The error coin market is over hyped. But it's the only way to keep people interested, pumping out a lot of videos these days.

The quarter at the end that your talking about having these ghost like lines behind her head and to the right of her head that you stated just recently sold online for $2,500... im almost positive this one has them marks.. Hi Susie, In most of my videos I'm pulling top dollar sales from www.heritageauctions.com. So most of the errors showcased on my channel are the most rare on the highest grade. I find a lot of errors personally, especially on State Quarters minted in Philadelphia but most of them are only worth a few dollars. There are some stories of coin roll hunters finding errors worth thousands of dollars. Finding rare and valuable coins is like playing the lottery. It's fun and exciting. I've found doubled dies, blank planchets, other varieties etc. They're out there, but the valuable ones are gonna be very hard to find.

I have a Sally Ride coin with the shadows you illustrated on each side of her face, also I see a scar on her right side of her chin area which is not on any others that I see... Would this be an error? Please advise if you can... My coin is in excellent condition and that is the only mark I see on the coin... Thank you!

Definitely maybe. It could be a struck through grease error, a mark from another coin, die chip or break, post mint damage. None of these are worth too much but any error is cool to find and collect. There are a lot of resources available to figure it out or you can check with a local coin dealer, coin forum or coin error FB community. Steel Soul Rocks! You all still together? Good luck ToneD!

What you need to know on ebay if it's buy it now say they want $100.00 you offer 75 and they say o.k. for some reason when they show it sold. It will say it sold for 100. I don't understand that. I've been on Ebay over 20 yrs and have done the buy it now. They came down when I offered less but still shows full price. Like the Disney movies for $5,000 dollars then it shows it sold for 5,000 . No way there commond.

You forgot to mention that the 2022 AWQ P,D,S, the San Francisco will be the lowest mintage of any quarters with a little over 300 thousand minted and none in circulation. I did enjoy your videos and I got a nice herpes quarter!

I have 6 of these dimes. What you dont notice, is the fact that the left side is raised and thick, while the right side is thin and low, then the coin is also off center.

How do I go about finding out if a coin I have has an error I believe I have a coin that has an error do to a defaulted dyi

I would search for the specific error to make sure I understand as much about how to properly identify and authenticate it. Then I would check the year and denomination. Most errors, especially a die error would have already been discovered unless it's a newer mintage. There are several message boards out there that you can post a picture and the members can assist. You can find something like that on FaceBook or @CoinHelpU has one. Good luck!

Idk if its the way its made at that mint or what.. I have a D and P Sally ride. My P quarter has a trace of what appears to be a line on the front face side around the edge where there is no writing and you can see it in the light. The D doesn't.

I wanted to comment on the ghost tail error. It was my assumption as soon as i saw the error you identified as the ghost tail error. I think it's because of the coins being slid or dropped into place at the mint when they are being packaged or after polishing?? and it would be a shame if I am right.

Looks like I found a new 'hobby' for the moment. I've got a Bunch of quarters to go through! I did find 1 quarter than had an 'anomoly' on it, but it appears that it had a dime stuck to it at some point. I'm going to put the dirty quarters in a shot glass of CLR and try to clean them up tomorry. Is it ok to soak quarters in CLR??

Oh heck no! Never ever clean your coins. Maybe a little distilled water if they're sticky or something, but never clean or scrub them. Their value will drop like a rock if you clean them.

Basically, the errors are damages in the coin? My sister has rolls of 1968 P Lincoln Memorial cents and when I open 23 rolls, the phrase " In God We Trust" in every coin looks like it was run over by a train. These are Brilliant Uncirculated coins. I don't know what to do with these damaged coins.

... Yes, timing is really important. If a person owns one of these error coins of questionable worth, a good part of that is finding a naive person to buy your defective coin for big money. It's kind of like when stock brokers are beating the drum loudly to BUY, BUY, BUY a particular stock, that they have a ton of shares in. (All the while knowing that it's overpriced). Once enough gullible people pump up the stock in a buying frenzy, then the broker unloads his shares for a huge profit. I'm not saying that there aren't truly worthwhile error coins, but the ones honestly worth having a few and far between. Nice double dies, ... coins stamped on wrong planchettes, ... Coins with actually desirable errors such as the "high leaf" and "low leaf" Iowa quarters.

Let me inform you how these things work , many many different things make the coin (more valuable than face value) Year , Amount made Location made Patina Errors Rarity And many more These coins are punched on large scale table die that is punching 20 or more coin at a time ....and makes more than a 1000 a minute... So that means there could potentially be thousands of one particular error , I mean they make over a billion of each coin a year ...so that's a large amount of potentially collectable coins

I find it comical that people pay good money for a manufacturing defect. I've been involved in coin collecting my whole life and I strive for perfection, not garbage. Rarity, to me, is determined by Mint records on when and where a coin is minted, not guessing how many defects are out there. Just my opinion of course.

The Philadelphia mint made these mistakes on purpose because none of them happened at the Denver mint. They purposely try to bring up the value of their quarters knowing that that was not true value in them in the first place. But how many Denver mistakes were made as of now I have found none.
