I would be very interested in the sustainable, organic farmland fund. My only outstanding question is why it seems it was said that homeownership is not a good as an investment when it seems that at the end of the day it is a hard asset, perhaps even a commodity. The pensions issue. In UK Oct 20022 the university pension funds nearly took the market to total collapse for a day or so. Result - new chancellor, new budget and new Prome Minister!!!!!!! A coup PS no bottom feeding in UK yet, everything on the slow slide and imo till mid 2024?

John is a clear thinker, articulating the current financial shitshow. Debt predicated upon Debt is where we're at now. Failure and bankruptcy, personally and nationally, is what logically follows. Own PM's and productive land is my suggestion.

Jim Sinclair spoke a lot in 2007-... about currency crisis due to too much government debt much like John alluded to. Their timing was way off because they didt understand how much debt the system can take on. We probably still have a good ways to go in that regard. but it will eventually lead to a new currency. The question to ask is how do we bridge the gap? What do we hold to ferry us across to the new system? Is that even possible for the average person? It feels like Govt has its foot to the floor to see how fast it can collapse the currency at this point. It's almost like a consumer living on credit cards that they know they are going to file bankruptcy on. For someone in that position, they want to hurry up and max them out so they can write the whole thing off and start over.

I agree the call was way too early! I thought 2008 was the end, but it was only the begining of the end. I was truly surprised at how long it took the inflation to flow through the system. Better to be 15 years early, then 1 second too late!

I assume you are referring to Vital Farmland. Based on the 2.5x equity multiple, the real annual return (minus management fees and catch up) on Vital Farmland's III Fund is 4.3%. If one is preparing for the collapse of the global economy, wouldn't physical gold make more sense? Or better yet if you have the available capital physical land? In a collapse scenario who is holding a hedge fund accountable to pay up and won't they just be paying in worthless dollars? If someone really believes in end times for fiat wouldn't they have all their wealth in tangible assets (property, physical pm)? I am a believer that the current system is headed for a meltdown but I am curious to know are the prognosticators still holding equities and cash? If so why? John Rubino?

All wealth is eventually consumed and redistributed through that spending process; either we spend it or our heirs or the government does. The only question is when does it get spent? It makes perfect sense to distribute it before death. A generational transfer would end up liquidating assets.

I'm 90% in short term treasuries, 10% short/VIX/metals, I grow 90% of my food organically on my own permaculture property and have my own well. I'm totally set, however, I do care and worry about the fate of others. I would very much like to hear more about this sustainable farmland fund. Such a great discussion with John. It’s nearly impossible to imagine the so-called proverbial soft-landing with all these significant issues. How could all these issues resolve ‘ nicely’ for such a landing? Wall Street Journal reported this week that the portfolio performances for Americans have been a disaster for the last 12-18 months. ( Not everyone has a fortune to put into Nvidia and Apple this year ) It’s another data point , besides the high cost of living, showing the real economy experienced by real people is in trouble.

A good way to align interests in stable pricies would be to tie loans to market values so people theoretically owe more on a home if they go up, and owe less if their home value drops. This would essentially replicate how everything else is in life, where there are no certainties, and price changes directly impact political decisions in real time
