The Sahm rule is greatly over hyped. Unemployment is a trailing indicator for recession. And simply looking for rises in the unemployment rate will give you an indication before the Sahm rule will.

A pivot is occuring from a US services based economy, to a production based economy. This takes years, and even more debt.Given the debt levels are now too high for it's population, and for the rest of the world to carry, it will not happen the peaceful way.
