Completely agree with this Stefan, sometimes it's good to just have nothing taking you away from the moment, and what a moment to behold flying a plane is (I know the feeling very well! 😀)

A social battery is a concept I learnt a while ago and I completely agree with you. Sometimes we just need some solitude to let things recharge. I feel like our time in lockdown reset the scale a bit on social interactions too (certainly for me it did). I’ll always remember the first time after lockdown when I went to an all day social event, before it would have been a breeze but I came back from it drained. My wife and I agreed last year that we did too much, by the end of the year we were both very tired. This year we’ve actually booked in “do nothing weekends” so we have time to recharge our batteries be it together or getting some much needed solitude. As always a great video, love your content.

Thank you so so much for posting this video Stef! I have PPL flight test coming up soon, but I didn’t had chance to practice city orbit and worried about radio call… but now I have a great image and what to expect! Actually, I saw EYZ taking off few days ago and I was wondering what the next video about haha thanks a lot 🙏

Great video - as always. And a good tip about listening out for parachute operations. Perhaps a better idea is to not do parachute drops over a heavily built up area on one of the busiest VFR transit zones in Melbourne. Seems like it's just asking for an accident.

I'm right there with Stefan on the solitude conversation. I love my people and I do need bits of socialization here and there, but I also very much love and need my alone time. Being alone together with another introvert is also good -- eg sitting on the beach with a friend for hours, each of us immersed in a book, or on our respective laptops working on projects, or in a museum, or looking out of an airplane, having a coffee at a small airstrip, etc. Often interspersed with geeking out about some aspect of our amazing universe. 🤩

I completely relate to the need for solitude. Working in a busy office where I interact with the public, I crave quiet and alone time to decompress. Being up in a plane above SA (I fly out of YPPF), where it is all me, I can talk to myself without anyone thinking I'm odd (😂), the only thing I have to worry about is flying the plane safely, and the decisions are all mine, is a great way to recharge. It always gives me a boost. Love your channel and your approach to flying Stef - Emma

I definitely enjoy my own time but rarely fly on my own, I always have passengers because i feel it's almost a bit of waste taking an empty plane around just for myself. Maybe I'll take a few more solo flights to have some me time!

I just saw a video on the new Cirrus SR22 G7 and wondering what you think of the new design or if you have seen it yet, in person or in videos? Stay Safe. Loved the video on NOT commenting on crashes as I find it heavily video these days and find it in bad taste unless it's an official crashes investigation from appropriate agencies but even then I'm not a fan.

Stefan, I agree with your comments about solitude. Now if I maybe pedantic, I disagree with some of your responses to checklist items. Flaps "away"???, Mixture "goes full rich", Fuel pump "goes on". Please remember that a checklist is not a doing list. It is to check that the item called has been complied with and is in the required position (not transiting). Complacency and slackness causes accidents.

Not sure I agree with the controller. You’re more than 3 miles out and should be listening and broadcasting on 135.7. If there was any conflict, it was the centre controller’s responsibility to identify and manage.

Flying might have its relaxing moments and views but the absolute correctness and requirements just negate this. I could drive my car to Melton, have coffee or whatever and have a peaceful drive home without permission, direction or legal restrictions. Aviation is a wonderful pastime,if you can afford it but it is not without a great amount of effort , planning and stress.
@marsgal4210 ай бұрын
The very definition of "introvert." You need time to yourself to recharge. In the 11 years since i got my PPL I've had exactly two people in the plane with me that it wasn't their job to be there. Part of me is disappointed. Part of me isn't.
