Super, we eat this sabjee twice with onion and with aloo as a fry we eat ,with roti,sometimes with rice dal.since we are from North we love this sabjee and one more sabjee that is Parval it is also tasty.

I used to prepare Kovaikai in a different which will be very tasty. Cut the Kai into smallest cubes. After boiling it, i grind coconut, green chilli and cumin seed and add it after seasoning.

It's very good for hemoglobin. I use to cut it in round like chips and make it like other vegetables like beans poriyal etc. And it can be eaten with curd rice .

Maharashtrians with thondli I.e. kovakkai prepare special masale bath a rice preparation. It will taste very nice. But they use onion garlic. We normally prepare normal kovakkai curry atleast once in fifteen days. Your preparation always very nice.

This is a superb vegetable mami u should use it more often.. Andhra style is very nutty and falvour is different, in Goa they make pickles ( though I have not made), Satvik style they add coconuts .. but I make it very simple .. chop Finley into round pieces add tadka with mustard seed hing turmeric.. add the veg and cool on low flame once cooked 70 percent add the salt to taste with chilli powder .. I have made Andhra style once only though..

after adding salt, instead of adding chilli powder directly, fry in oil red chilies - 2 nos or as per requirement., groundnut - 1 tbsb, channa dal - 1 tsp, dhania - 1 tsp (raw) and then let it cool and coarsely powder it and then add it to the vegetable. it tastes awesome. I am from Hyderabad.

Gdmng mam. Interesting dish. Just one thing to share. Kalonji is Onion seed no doubt. But Onion seed on the contrary to its name doesn't belong to the Onion family but it belongs to the cumin family. So I suppose we can add kalonji. Thanks 😊

Kovakai has lots of iron content and also a very good for high BP patients to reduce their BP. It was given daily just boiled with lil salt to my mother to bring down her high blood pressure prescribed by the doctor...really it did worked. Tysm Mami avargale for a good recipe .v often cook only karamedu but never tried this way .

Kalonji is Nigella seed - not onion seed. The only connection is the mild flavor suggestive of onions. It is called Nigella sativa and is a member of ranunculus family. Do not worry about using this in no onion/no garlic dishes. Love your cooking show.
