Paris pastry is insane!ly fabulous! Ingredients not mentioned: intense competition to keep everyone on their toes, ingredients maybe the best in the world and publications for the masses like FOU DE PATISSERIE + plus their shops featuring the newest chefs and their latest work. Paris pastry chefs are artists. No other city in France can compare. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Such beautiful cakes. In America and UK the cakes are lumpy, large, full of sugar and additives.

There is a great unwanted added value to this video: the inevitable comparizon of Cedric Grolet and J. F. Foucher... One is a global star thanks to Instagram and a shiny, showy style based on a lot of food colourings (because a fashionable cake "must" look like something else nowadays...), the other makes honest pastries, eliminates all artificial additives, cares about sustainability... and does NOT have milions of followers and people standing in line in front of his shop for 3 hours. Sign of today. I'd definitely rather visit Foucher's shop than Grolet's.

Please does anyone know the music on the beginning? It’s not the Sugar Plum Fairy dance by Tchaikovsky but I can’t recall it... it’s killing me 🥲
@cioccolateriaveneziana2 жыл бұрын
It certainly sounds like the Sugar Plum Fairy dance. I hate it :-))) I want to rewatch that beautiful introduction of the video because of all the desserts but the music puts me off... The only Tchaikovsky piece I hate more than this one is the Little Swans dance.

That gourmet department of Galeries Lafayette was one of my disappointments in Paris... Fauchon and Hédiard had to close (I still don't understand how come) and what has Paris to offer instead? Crampy space that looks like something temporary, with loud music, absolutely no atmosphere, weird ratio of savoury options and desserts and an underground supermarket that belongs to Carrefour. I'm glad that it exists because there doesn't seem to be anything else with a good selection on the Right Bank, but it's not a dignified place.

If patisserie is so thriving, why did Cador have to close? Remember the beautiful Louis XVI style patisserie from the last episode of Sex and the City? Closed in 2008. I'm still wondering why. There wasn't much media coverage. It's opposite Louvre, it had the product placement help in SATC, it could have been taken over by Ladurée or someone else but no. Now it's a fast food joint.

There are 35,000 patisseries in France, so a couple of thousand will go out of business every year. And a couple of thousands new ones will open.

I feel that is a threat to the country of France my next place of destination. I was waiting to speak with the queen herself today sometime later. Mrs. Kay Wheeler will work with the Kenyans and Ivory Coast to teach them about things they have never understood before. Instead of a peaceful upbringing France will be be a ravaged state in the future.

Pastries should be taxed as they are as unhealthy as alcohol if not more.

Well, products in super markets, with are transformed and very sweet and savory should be taxed even more. And alcool can change your attitude and you can also be dangerous for the others while you're are not with sugar.

I don’t really think much of French pastry, not after living in France for 13 years. It’s all a myth, most of their pastry is mass made just like the restaurant dishes and their so called ‘haute couture’ . There were scandals in France between 2015 - 2017 about the mass produced dishes , bread and pastries. And last month, a huge scandal about the haute couture all made in sweat shops in Italy by Chinese illegal migrant workers. France is a joke and so is their food. The best pastry chefs are the Japanese. I also love the fine pastries of Lebanon and Morocco.
