I did this course as I way to change my career into project management. I got an entry level job as a project coordinator before I even finished the course. It helped me have basic knowledge for the interviews where I was asked to give a presentation on how to plan a new small project. I wouldn't have been able to get this job without this course. @colin18183 жыл бұрын
There are a bunch of different groups that offer various different project management "certifications." Most of them are pretty worthless and just resume fodder. If they're very fast and require a weekend of your time and no prior experience then their value to a hiring manager is likely similarly shallow. The CAPM, despite coming from PMI, isn't really all that valuable. However, if you have literally nothing with "project management" on your resume it's a great place to start. So in that respect CAPM is a worth-while investment since it requires little more than a high school diploma, a couple hundred bucks and some study time. But hopefully it's the type of certification you earn and never recertify because you move on up to the full PMP (also from PMI). The PMP has long been the gold standard and that should be your goal. Only acquire enough of the these minor certifications to get you that first job or two and get to the PMP as quickly as possible. After you have the PMP nothing else is really supremely consequential or helpful unless you're looking at specialized certifications within project management. But as a general, all purpose certification, the PMP is pretty much it.

It's a great cert especially if you have no experience tbh but If you're responsible, somewhat organized, self starting, attentive w/foresight, inquisitive, planner and can communicate well with people plus keep a cool head this may interest you. All the terms and stuff will come in time from studying and going for certs. I have a PMP and recently changed PM jobs. I will say that unless you are entry level I would caution anyone doing this right now. If you look at job postings for PMs they don't ask for this certificate as required or preferred but the do ask for the PMI credentials. So unless companies start asking for this certificate on job postings or if Google has a track record about helping applicants out it feels like a money grab. I am curious if anyone has completed this and received a PM role due to this certificate.
@RecipeforSuccess13 жыл бұрын
Hi Alan - you and I arrived at a similar conclusion (which I pointed out in this video): there isn't any current stats to prove an ROI and I also couldn't find any job roles that listed this as a qualification. Hi Saksham - I like this strategy! If I were you, I would look into a few training options for CAPM and compare prices/courses. Currently, It looks like the Google Course qualifies for the education hours for the CAPM and seems like it would be a reasonably priced option. I would also double check with PMI that they will accept those education hours and make sure to read through PMBOK. For full transparency, I haven't personally done this, so I can't say with 100% certainty that it'll get you through your CAPM, but it seems reasonable to try this approach. I hope that helps!

I don’t know 🤷🏾♀️ I just got out of university and entry level jobs are asking for 3, 4, 5 + years of experience. This still might me worth taking for recently graduates that are not really in the industry.
@RecipeforSuccess13 жыл бұрын
Hi Vania - If you aren't able to find a job, certifications can definitely help promote your resume. I think the trick is trying to decide if the company/jobs you're looking at prefer the Google PM vs. PMI's CAPM. Good luck!
@colin18183 жыл бұрын
Even if you don't fully meet the years of experience requirements I'd still apply. That's one of the first things hiring managers are likely to look past. ESPECIALLY with obvious entry level positions. Now, if the job is asking for 15 years in a specific field for a Sr. Lead Project Manager - yea, you're probably out of your depth. But if the job is asking for 2-3 years of experience then go ahead and submit your application. Because a lot of the people that already have 2-3 years of experience are applying for the jobs asking for 4-5 years of experience. Eventually somebody will bite on your application.

@@RecipeforSuccess1 What do you recommend for someone like me with a engineering degree to tranform to a business sector? PMI or this Google PM certificate?
@RecipeforSuccess13 жыл бұрын
@@DreamWorksCreations It depends what you're looking for. Since you already have work experienced, I'd try just applying for jobs. If you want to learn more about project management, the Google course is a good place to start (it's cheap and is based on PMI principles). You won't be eligible for the PMI PMP certification until you have several years of project management experience. Good luck!

PMP certification is either a requirement or a ban, depending on where you go looking for work. My wife considered getting her PMP (after over 20 years of doing project management), but discovered that the "feel" many people frequently had was that the certification was covering for lack of experience and/or incompetence, and to get a pay boost.

I had some few doubts it will be great if u help me with that ( anyone who's having answer for this also pls cmt it) " i can't find proper answer in anywhere ". My doubts are, 1. What are the roles & responsibilities of project management team in hierarchy basis like (junior BA > BA > junior PM > PM > PO) & the skills they need yo develop 2. Is the project manager or any one in the team of project management had to know the knowledge of coding/ program language skills in TECH domain. 3. What are the key certification those project management team persons had to pursue. 4. Is the project manager can able to switch domains like TECH to retail or any filed where there is need of project management. Thanks

Does PM require a lot of public speaking? I’m currently taking a Digital Marketing course but also interested in PM. I feel I possess a lot of the qualities, ie organized, planner, detailed, analytical but lack in public speaking dept. Small groups are fine and even communicating via remote I think I would be good with. Any suggestions ? And how it differs from DM in using those skills? Hope that makes sense. I’m looking for career change and want to find where I will best fit in

Hi Stephanie - In my experience, I've always needed to be comfortable speaking a LOT to those above me and to my team. I lead meetings, do software demos (as needed), and provide lots of executive level status updates - so I would say if public speaking is a concern, consider some courses on it? Or opportunities in your current role to practice?
