I really need to “refine” my style. I can build acute angle cutting jigs and sleds. I have them. But, I’m not scripted at all. Everything I do is “off-the-cuff” with a slight mix of “poor-planning”. Since you asked, I would also recommend CA glue as a 'chemical clamp' during your assembly. I use a bead of wood glue and a couple dots super glue gel on one piece and spray the activator on the other piece, line them up perfectly and bring them together. The smoother your cross cuts, the better when it comes to the ca glue. Like I said, I use it as 'chemical clamp' to Expedite my assembly. I still shoot some bradnails in it, 😳cause I'm just paranoid. And if I'm assembling with pocket holes, it's great for holding the pieces together while you're shooting the pocket holes screws in. You also don't have to use the activator on things that are too challenging to manipulate into position, just push them together and line stuff up and hold it 10 or 30seconds. Sometimes a full minute. It may seem like a long time to some builders, but you're the "professional-instructor". Great Video. I really enjoyed following along with the building process. I watched 3 times now and left 2 comments. We're drive the crap out of the algorithm 😎🤠🤓. Merry Christmas Brother. To you and your family.

Ha ha ha🤣 I get the “paranoia” and completely understand that! CA glue is a great “chemical clamp”. I use it a lot in my sleds and intricate projects. I honestly don’t do much with the pocket hole jig. I have one now and did a giveaway last year with the other one. A lot of what I do is more “off the cuff”. Get an idea and go shoot the video. I made a table last year that would have been great to show pocket holes on but, me being me in the shop, I just grabbed a handful of 3-1/2” T25’s and screwed it together🤣 pocket holes are great though and definitely have thier place! I know fine woodworkers that don’t care for them but… they’re practical and definitely make more sense in certain applications! I appreciate you watching the video a few times! That’s great! As far as a “professional instructor” goes brother, I really hope not! Sounds like too much responsibility! For now, just a blue-collar, working class guy with down time from the winter hours!🤣 And I hope you and your family have a fantastic Christmas as well!🎄

That is a great tree! I pretty sure I could build it off of your instructions just fine. I think I would use chalk paint and make it look a little worn and rustic. I can see lots of different finishes for it!! Though.. Thanks for doing the video!

Hey Allison, Thank you. It's definitely a fun project. If I understand your question correctly, 04:20 , someone could use a longer cut-off up against the fence instead of square stock/scrap to make sure the pieces stay at the same angle. However, I think that to keep it flat to the base of the saw and the back of the piece, they would need to "shim" a piece in behind it and the fence to keep it from rolling when it gets attached. It might make it easier in the long run. That's actually an excellent question. Honest answer, I don't know🤣

I'm a recent subscriber. I like your content. Your assembly tutorial is really good. I do use a heavy glove on my support hand when I'm bradnailing stuff together just for the occasional wild brad. I know about lining up the arrow on the tip of the nailer with grain of the wood, but there's still that one spot. Anyways, great job on the video. You're doing a great job with your content. This the 1st video on the this type of tree that someone is actually giving step by step instructions, including the angle of each cut, explaining the reason for it. Good job on that. If could improve one thing, it would be better lighting for you in your shop for your videos cause my eyes are a lot older than yours, evidently.🤨🧐🤓🤠. If I had hit the lottery big, I'd be contacting you about improving your working conditions, but sorry, I didn't win.😕

Great video. When you do that 3/4 cut on the table saw are you measuring the top of the balde or the bottom hard to tell with the bevels..thanks man

Hey Don! Thanks. To be honest, I’m not sure how many 2x4’s it took. I just used last seasons “toe-boards” that were cut to 4’ feet. I know that I got 3 “rips” per board. I’ll do the math when I get home and let everyone know! I should have thought about that!🤣

Hey Don. Heres the math... If I'm worng (please) let me know because I'm doing this on the "fly" but wanted to answer your question. We have a total of 789" inches for the tree (Branches). Each 2"x4"x8' gives us 96" inches For each 8' foot 2"x4" we get (3) - 3/4" rips @ 96" inches. Thats a total of 288" inches. 288/ 789 = 2.7 and some change. So. (3) 8' foot 2"x4"'s would give you your branches assuming all the boards were usuable. There is also (2) 14" pieces for the base (full size) 2"x4" = 28" inches and the first branch set which i "believe" was 16-1/2" so x 2 would be 33" inches. Full Size 2"x4" = 61" inches (Base and Stand) ............. 1 - 2"x4"x8' Branch Count 2"x4" = 789" Inches = (Branches)...........3 - 2"x4"x8' The answer is 4.... We need (4) 2"x4"x8's to complete trhe project! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Definitely not enough coffee yet! But, your also a wood worker so I know you will hold me accountable for my math. (I hope!) Ill get it all figured out tonight and try to get it on the post though the best I can!

My jigsaw has had a rough life on the jobsites at work. It's a little tricky keeping the foot at 90 degrees while making cuts in a "safe" manner so I thought it best to leave that part out 🤣

Hey Steve. To be completely honest, I don’t know. After the first set of cuts, when I flip the piece and make the mark on the “heel” for the next set, that mark evenly reduces the next set of branches. If I can find that auxiliary fence I made with the marks, I’ll edit the comment with a precise measurement for you. Hope that helps some. @@DavidRose-t1o Hey David! That’s a good question. I have looked around and I can’t find anything like this specific tree for sale. I don’t sell them so I couldn’t say definitively. I would imagine starting price points (stained and finished) $80 easy. With a light, $120 maybe. I’d say $80 finished would be more than reasonable regardless of location.

¡Hola Ariel! El primer corte que hice fue de 20 pulgadas. Pero saqué ese número de la hoja de la sierra y lo medí en el tablero de desecho.
