I miss him quite a lot. But if he is happy with quiet life without public performances and music industry in general I'm happy for him. I remember reading somewhere his claim that being in a pop group after 35 is a bit undignified and I have to agree to some degree. It has been sometimes very obvious the DM are in only for money for last couple of tours. Lack of surprises and replacing notorious hits with some less known gems would be really awesome. And also they don't care about fans compare that to U2 who release something interesting for fans quite often. But I still wonder where canAlan be right now on 14. of November 2023. I wish he had at least some YT vlog, anything just to hear and see him how he's doing.

They never would have recovered anyway. Songs of faith and devotion was much weaker than the previous album, I doubt Ultra would've been any better if Alan had stayed with the band. They clearly reached their peak in 1990, and still managed to produce two more average albums.. can't expect much more once they became a 20 year old band 🤷🏻‍♂️ Still good of course, but the golden years were over

Martin is not allowed to play the song with anything that Alan have build up. This is basically all his music and not Martin's. See if you understand that far too many songs were build by Alan from ideas from a demo even the demo or any parts made it into the album unless Alan used the parts he replayed arranged and embellished.
