What a blast from the past. Finding the nuke and hidden beach in level 1 was amazing. I've always wondered about more easter eggs in the subsequent levels. Glad to hear there's still a community enjoying this.

Ah ... Good ol' Recoil. I played the F out of the demo version in 1999 before I purchased the full game. One of my most prized possessions. I have spent wayyy too many hours playing this one. This game needs a reboot.

Great review! Hopefully the game will be released on GOG someday and cost less than the physical disc. Also, Zipper Interactive developed this game. They're the same ones who developed the Socom U.S. Navy Seals games on the PS2 and Mechwarrior 3 on PC. Unfortunately they closed back in 2012. Sony acquired them in 2006 so who knows.

somewhat improved version of Recoil would be Infestation that came out a year later, in 2000 Longer campaign about hopping across planets doing various missions and killing enemies while collecting more weapons and vehicle mods that start with bigger inflatable tires for you to cross shallow waters, to rocket hovercraft to outright Vtol mod that allows you freedom of movement in the level. Some simple material collection and crafting iirc as well

I miss it when Tanks were fast and fun in games. This was one of those titles that came out around BattleTanx Global Assault and Tiny Tank on the PS1 that just _got it_ - give me responsive controls, make the tank relatively speedy, and let me blast a wide variety of enemies and environments to bits with cool weapons, and you'll have a good game. Pure entertainment. I hate that this is so obscure; I remember playing it back in the day and forgetting the name too until I did some research digging through old demo discs for PC gaming magazines, lol. Zipper Interactive did real good with this one.

Omg! I loved this game so much ( I was in one of ur cds2 video) my dad showed me this game and I played it. I play it in one of my older pc that still work. There is a similar tank game called crossout I think ( they showed it in ads) this game is available for Xbox one pc and PS4

There were a lot of great tank games back then. Mass Destruction (ps1), the Battle Tanx (ps1, n64) games, Hostile Waters Antaeus Rising (pc), Steel Reign (ps1), Tiny Tank, Shellshock (ps1) Red Dog (Dreamcast, its an armed vehicle of some kind).

I had the same issue with Panzer Dragoons music using an ISO and it ran CD audio too. No music. Oddly I dont remember it happening on windows 7 just 10. Yes Panzer dragoon 1 got a PC release back in the day
