I have to tell you, my wife was sitting in her chair, near me, while I was watching and listening to your video. I went out to reinstall the spring and she asked if she could try it, and wound it on like nobody’s business. Good instructor! Thanks again. Worked great!

I have spent the weekend trying - and failing - to carry out exactly that operation! Brilliant, informative and it warms the heart to see someone using all their limbs to get control of a bloody machine 😁

I watched at least five videos before I found yours and yours was the absolute easiest to understand and now my weed eater is running because of you & your video! Thank you!

Okay first things first, thank you very much for doing this video, I won't throw out my gas powered Stihl fs40c for an electric one just yet. If it wasn't for your video, the Stihl wouldn't have made it to the weekend. So thank you. Second, as other posters have commented, we share your pain, and you are credit it to your gender for suffering through the crap that men have to deal with on a regular basis..... it's annoyances like this recoil spring issue that suck the life out of men. Your husband is a lucky guy to have someone who would put themselves through this , and do so with patience and perseverance. My compliments to you both.

It was a good video. I watched several. Took a little from each. The main takeaway from yours was the reverse winding of the spring, which I actually started once and dropped it. It came off, and i just gave up. After I found yours, it clicked in my brain what I did wrong. Im writing this comment before I even finished so pardon if you actually did what im saying to do next time. Don't use the clamp for the sprin. Just use both fingers working spring around each turn, and the tension will hold it in place. Then, put it on the base until the notch catches. Go ahead and put the other white plastic piece on.. take a sharpy and mark one edge of the plastic twist it aroung 6 times using the sharpy mark as your guide. Then pull the cord slack all the way out, making sure it's not kinked up. Then, hold the handle with tension on the rope and let it ease back in. I think you can put the C clip back on before or after. I did after and worked perfectly.

Thanks for that: these jobs that should be simple always seem to be the ones that have you pulling your hair out! BTW, the little ring is called a circlip!

wow! . thank you for this video!!! - I had the same thing happen to me, - when opening the recoil assembly.. the 'under-spring' exploded outward! - So, after over an hour of unsuccessfully attempting to rewind it and to fit it back in... I was beginning to think it was NOT POSSIBLE!!! - Your perseverance, ingenuity, and patience making this video is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! Thank YOU!!

Hi, I could copy and paste the comment from Kenneth Johnston, his situation was exactly mine and yours, I found your video and it was perfect, you brought calmness to my situation, My weedeater is back in action. You did well, you should be proud of yourself. One negative comment, I was really ready to hear a few curse words. Thank you for doing this,

Well Done!-....Surely 'they' could make an easier pull repair cord design- IF THEY WANTED...Evidence that people who design don't have a CLUE about practical function or simple repair!-and people think Stihl is a good company/product---NOT SO!

18.5 minutes of dialogue that a man could have cut this video down to 3 minutes. Women love to talk 😂.
