Beat me to it. That's probably my favorite indie game ever, and it feels like nobody talks about it. Its puzzles are varied and rewarding, the combat is fast and fun, and the world is so much fun to explore! Also easily accessible, being on pretty much every current gen console (I think). Easily the best early access purchase I ever made (especially since it actually got OUT of early access). It's great to see it recommended here.

I'd personally recommend Epic Battle Fantasy (3, 4, and 5 are on Steam), it's a wonderful indie JRPG that makes for an amazing tribute to the JRPG genre, and its battle system is certainly fun to learn, it's up there with the better known commercial JRPGSs today imo. The dev, Matt Rozsak, could also be someone to interview given that he has much to say about Flash games himself. Also recommend Octogeddon, it's made by none other than the main directors of Insaniquarium and Plants Vs. Zombies, a two-button control game where you're an octopus wrecking everything.

Kharon’s Crypt: Early acces game where you play as Kharon who just escaped their prison room at the bottom of a giant dungeo. You were locked in for so long that the people who couldn’t die without your help turned into monsters! Your job is to escape the dungeon and defeat the king who imprisoned you.

I wish I had seen this video when it first came out, because I have... god, I have just _so many_ recommendations of my own. Things like: - Creepy Castle, a ZX Spectrum-styled RPG with multiple playable stories and characters and a combat system based around WarioWare microgames - Fist's Elimination Tower, a fast-paced arcade platformer about clearing rooms of enemies and evading giant fists - BackSlash, the first game from the studio behind Olija and a two-player arena fighter based around combining different martial arts styles - Prodigal, a tribute to the GBC Zelda games with an expansive story and characters that can be interacted with or romanced - Voidigo, a top-down shooter in the vein of Gungeon or Nuclear Throne but with its own unique motion mechanics - Super Slime Arena, a very minimalist and replayable arena fighter that can support dozens of players and any type of controller you can connect to your computer - EatWell, an exceptionally jank but thoroughly unique Pac-Man roguelite with some of the wildest power-ups or secrets you could ever imagine - El Tango De La Muerte, a rhythm game dressed in the style of a Latin-American telenovela - Black Bird, a gothic opera shmup from the developers of the infamous wacky adventure game Chulip - The Void Rains Upon Her Heart, a bullet hell boss rush roguelite shmup with some excellent bosses and gameplay loops - Backspace Bouken, a quirky dungeon crawler crossed with a typing game - Towertale, a narrative-driven boss rush game with multiple playable characters that each have their own story route and multiplayer co-op options - Vision Soft Reset, a metroidvania heavy on the metroid, with a unique time travel mechanic built around reversing time, seeing into the future, and going back to old save points to make split timelines - Pato Box, a comic book-styled Punch-Out game combined with various different genres such as adventure and stealth

Party Games: - SpyParty | A competitive espionage game about subtle human behavior. You accomplish a set of tasks in a room, while trying to convince the sniper that you are just another AI. - Liero | An old freeware multiplayer, arena shoot-em-up title where you can turn reload time off, which has a lot more hilarious consequences then you might expect. Roguelike: - Heat Signature | A comedy of errors in space, the mechanics combine in a way that you will never stop finding new ways to mess up. - FTL: Faster Than Light | Okay so, definitely not the most underrated game out there, but goddamn does it deserve every ounce of recognition it does and doesn't get. Absolutely masterpiece Puzzle Games: - Stacking | Double Fine's finest, in my opinion. A beautifully charming Russian Nesting Doll puzzle adventure game. - Perspective | A short little mind-bending freeware first person, 2D platformer. RPG's (Story Games): - Save The Date! | A freeware visual novel that I fundamentally refuse to spoil, if anybody is still reading this far, play Save The Date! It's one of the smartest most creative gaming experiences I've ever had - Hypnospace: Outlaw | A weird, nostalgic, creative, 90's internet adventure game. Featuring radical music by Hot Dad, and interesting moral questions of intellectual property and censorship. Action/Adventure: - Broforce | BROFORCE! KICKING ASS FOR JUSTICE AND FOR LIBERTY! - Megaton Rainfall | The best superhero game, it perfectly captures the feeling of being Superman, while throwing in genuinely good mechanics, also it's story has a hint of existential horror, which definitely caught me off guard.

If you’re ok with being mercilessly killed a number of times that a supercomputer the size of a mountain couldn’t count to, play Rain World. It pretty much fits the bill, while replacing fantasy with dystopia. Lord is good, combat is hard to get into but so fun to get right, and a great art style that, while technically not pixel art, still kinda looks pixelly. There’s also AI like no other and procedural animation which, instead of using set, drawn animations, it instead uses code to make animations by itself, increasing the fluidity of the game. The movement system is fucking amazing, as well. Truly a world where it rains.

I love the Don't Escape series ! each game has a unique storyline and the game really makes you want to keep playing and playing until you get all the endings, i played the entire series when flash was still around (rip flash) my most favorite was the third don't escape, the further you go into the story, the more invested and on edge you would be. then when you get to the ending, uncover the truth behind why and how the entire crew is dead, youd get chills crawling on your back. the truth would be 'simple' but the more you think about it, the more you look back on the playthrough, there's so much things that click together. the deep sleep series was amazing as well ! i only played it with my brother when we were younger so i dont remember much (i was also really scared of horror haha) but it was so well made and an amazing experience, if you love horror then i think this is a good series, theres a few cheap jumpscares but i think it wouldnt bother you that much in the long run ^^ unfortunately i cant play the 4th dont escape game (which was shown in the video) however if i ever do get the chance, i definitely would ! and i do recommend anyone to try out the dont escape series as well the deep sleep series ! have a nice day everyone

a rogue lite I will recommend to my dying breath is streets of rogue. holy shit this game is fun. its not that long (about an hour) which makes it super repayable. it has about 30 characters which all function differently, some more than others. Ive heard it described as a rules lite game which is accurate. you get these objectives at the start of the floor and its up to you how you complete them. sometimes failing them is often the best decision. please play this game

I heard Grime's final boss has over 100 different attacks, wich makes it very hard to predict and dodge them.

Quite a lot of interesting titles in here! I downloaded this to watch a week ago for my cruise; I'm gonna have to look into a lot of these later since I have quite the backlog, but I did buy Duel on Board right away cause there isn't exactly a surplus on games to play with my friend one-on-one.

50: remembering watching a all cutsence by gamer's little playground I thought it was pretty cool and I just saw that character you play as in the game on thumbnail and that why watch this video.

I highly recommend to check Figment, at least for this story, atmosphere and music (this game is tragic and depressive, it can looks colorful and "childish" but believe me, it's not, it's pretty serious game)

I personally recommend a game called BIT.TRIP Presents… Runner2: Future Legend Of Rhythm Alien. It’s a 2D auto-runner as well as a rhythm game. It’s a shame that no one has played this along with the rest of the BIT.TRIP series. In fact, only a few other people I know actually knows what this game and what the entire series is.
