This is an unboxing of the grand strategic solitaire wargame Global War: World War 2 World Wide 1939-1945. Designed by R. Ben Madison and Wes Erni, and published by White Dog Games.
A grand strategic solitaire war game, Global War: World War II Worldwide 1939-1945 lets you fight all of World War II in one three-hour sitting! Smaller scenarios can be played in less time.
You can fight epic carrier battles in the Pacific while Panzer armies roll across the Eastern Front. You will use wartime leaders like Churchill and Stalin to achieve military goals from Western Europe and Russia to Ethiopia, China, and Southeast Asia. Build fleets of convoys to offset German U-Boats. Support armed partisan resistance. Employ the unique talents of generals like Patton, Montgomery, MacArthur, and Zhukov to defy fascist aggressors. Wage the Battle of Britain in a struggle for control of the skies. Task your scientists to develop the A-Bomb. Conduct bombing missions to batter Axis industrial capacity and morale as Axis offensives in Europe, Africa, China, the Pacific, and Russia challenge your own morale. Land on the beaches at Normandy. Fight epic battles at Stalingrad, Imphal, and Guadalcanal. All to determine the fate of the globe -- for this is GLOBAL WAR!

Played this three times already. One of the best wargames I've played in 10+ years. It's amazing how much of the war they captured in this game, in ways that make sense. Hope you will give it a try. Be prepared to lose your first game, learn your lessons, and then go on from there.

@varovaro1967 I've been playing it quite a bit over the last week. No, it's not easy to learn. It's far from the hardest game to learn or play, but there are enough moving parts and multiple steps along the way to definitely elevate it to at least a medium weight game.

I agree. But beyond learning the rules, you also need to become aware of what things are important for victory. It's not easy to tell at first. Slight spoiler here: if you neglect the Battle of the Atlantic, you are in for a rough ride.@@WayneHansen

I'm a big fan of White Dog Games. I love Irish Freedom and have played it and September Storm a few times, and enjoyed each one. I will be following your coverage closely, as it looks like this is a game I want!

This one is pretty near the top of my list. Actually took out Mrs Thatcher's war earlier today. Will table it this week I think. This one has some similarities but WW2 is a soft spot for me. May treat myself soon to this one. Looking forward to play thru videos!

I am playing through my first game and there is a lot of moving parts as others have stated. I think once you learn things one can move through the steps pretty easily. The rules are a little fuzzy in spots, but it is ok overall. There is a good detailed sequence of play and index on BGG which have been handy. Look forward to your play through of the game.

Great Wayne, I was looking at this even though I have numerous titles on the pc, I noticed they don’t place the s w a as the German flag

I imagine the German iconography has something to do with being able to sell the game in Europe where the laws are just a little different than in the US.

Have played 3 turns and must be doing something wrong. Francs has NOT fallen and the Med is not in play. Looking forward to your play through.

Without seeing how you're playing John, I don't know if that's impossible, or just extremely unlikely. One big question: Are you rolling (during the Axis attack phase) every time when the Axis attack the stack of UN armies (Poland, Belgium, France, etc) and comparing it to the units strength? Or do you only roll when you spend $ to "prop" up those units? If you don't spend the money, each Axis attack auto-eliminates one of those UN armies.

R. Ben Madison is such a prolific game designer yet I have never seen him on a you tube channel doing interviews like Herman Luttman or Greg Smith. Does he just not grant interviews or nobody asks him?
