When Ludinus said “I wish you knew what I knew” at the 53 minute mark, which was a non-answer to Chetney’s answer, it reflected what the gods said to Cassida. More or less, like the gods, he thinks they’re incapable of understanding what he knows. Whereas, I remember that the reason why the gods didn’t want to answer Cassida’s hard questions could’ve been answered easily. Like the gods, Ludinus felt that answering the question would paint them in a bad light and lose the argument. They’d rather destroy than accept that they were wrong.
@Vael7
@Vael7 5 ай бұрын
Yeah its a way to deflect and belittle the one asking the question but atleast for the gods you would not really believe if they said "We came using a ship of light and we are all family so we would appreciate if you dont kill them, also some of us were devoured and we are deeply traumatized about it." it would be more insane than anything luda couldve said

I am sorry, but it must be destroyed utterly, before its promise can be realized."

Not sure why you take it as him belittling in that response. Is it possible your perceived image of him as the bad guy makes you suspect everything he replies with? I took that response as it would take a portion of time to explain in details, and combine that with how the group was being a bunch of pricks towards him, demanding information when not outright mocking him...I mean, would make sense you'd be reserved to go into further details when there is no intent on the other party to return the favor of knowledge being demanded. The Gods with Cassida was much more direct. They outright made it clear they didn't care about her, or her thoughts of the situation, and only care if she was of use to them [bar EverLight] --- and that sounds alot more like how Bells Hells was treating Ludinus .

@@grumdiddlydoo3559it is a very common way to belittle and discard the arguments your opponent uses. And saying that. I have been in debates where the urge to use the "i know more than you" argument is tempting. But instead the correct action, is to provide the knowlege to your foe and if your argument doesnt hold up. You lose. Luddy thinks his vast knowledge gives him the right to decide on behalf of others. And when challenged, refuses to share his knowledge. Or worse. He did and he lost the argument and he cannot concede. He has drunk his own koolaid and maintains his eternal arrogance.

After this episode I am thoroughly convinced of one thing: Braius does not actually know anything at all about Asmodeus or the betrayer gods. He is a fanboy and a poser claiming to be a herald because he thinks it’s cool and edgy. That’s why he also has levels as a tragedy bard: He’s an emo kid who never grew out of it.
@crouchingmarker
@crouchingmarker 4 ай бұрын
I feel like Braius picked his entire personality after reading a pamphlet, and any glance he gets at the deeper nature of Asmodeus, head cheerleader for team all mortals suck is immediately filtered through the simplistic rhetoric of 'Devoting to the Lord of the Hells For Fun and Profit.' Also, for clarity, that that is an active and informed player choice to throw a little spice into exactly this kind of discussion.
@ebony1442

Given Asmodeus' outright contempt for mortals, as portrayed in Calamity and Downfall, I have to think that the god would consider anyone who actively worshipped him to be at best a pawn and at worst an idiotic pawn. Braius is probably somewhere on that spectrum.

Those two statements aren't actually in conflict. We've established pretty thoroughly that there's no fundamental difference between a god and a mortal. Just a difference in potency, and with it the difference in callousness that comes with it. Those who do not know weakness or struggle lose sight of what it means to be weak or needy. That's a very, VERY human thing indeed. Both sides of it. Mortals are more perfect than the gods simply because they lack the power of the gods.

@EloyBushida And yet if given a choice, most of the Primes would have chosen to save Aeor. The nature of their timetable being moved up and the spread of the knowledge of the god killer is what ultimately tipped their hand. A weapon that could tipo the scales to a more even balance, but one that also could have destroyed known existence. Put this way; if you could go back and time and make it so the atom bomb was never invented and never would be invented, would you do it? Even if it meant wiping out New York City? We have come dangerously close to exterminating ourselves with those weapons and we already vaporized two cities and millions of civilians with them. But you would still have to destroy a major city to do it. Thus it is not so clear cut. The Primes at least realized the full gravity of what they did, and while it was not “the” right answer, it wasn’t “the” wrong answer either. And then the Primes took responsibility for their actions by admitting they needed to leave the Mortal Plane. They listened to mortals and saw what the wars of gods wraught, and they willlingly removed themselves. That is more than I can say for most leaders on Earth, who would cling to power even as the world burned because of them.

@EloyBushida Did you perhaps miss the part where the Everlight lost one of last remaining mortal followers? The follower that the Everlight very nearly scuppered her part of the plan for? Or how the Wildmother had to give up her home amongst the wilds for the sake of Divine Gate? Or how the Law Bearer had to let go of a civilization she was once proud of, a choice that almost lead her to conflict with her siblings? I would call those, losses and part of the painful choices the Primes made. Your blind hatred of the Exandrian gods is mildly baffling to me. You say they were monsters, and yet they were anything but. They were beings faced with a hard choice that they didn’t want to make and yet ultimately had to. You may not agree with that choice, but you can understand it and even find some sympathy in it. Because nothing out of all that would have ever been “the” right choice

Ludinus is such a great villain. He’s trying to use all this self righteous reasoning of why the gods should die, when he really just wants revenge. Like predathos, revenge is a hungry void that destroys everything in its way, no matter how much ludinus insists it’s only going to kill the gods, he’s already proven himself wrong. In the pursuit of revenge he’s consumed countless fey. He decimated Mylasmier, the Savalier wood, and all the lives ludanis has destroyed before & since. Ludinus’s action probably have had the farthest reaching consequences of any villain in this world, affecting the characters and events going all the way back to campaign 1 when you think about it. It eats the gods and moves on, just like it said. If Melora isn't there, what guarantee do we have that nature will survive? Nature was preserved by the primordials, first, and they're gone, and now Melora basically is nature. The way I think of it is, at least with the gods, they locked themselves behind the Gate. "The shark does not bother itself with the krill" Ludinus has had hundreds of years and knows so much yet he doesn't know basic shark facts? This is untrue, whale sharks do in fact eat krill since they are filter feeders, as are basking sharks. Some sharks will also eat anything, especially when hungry so sharks have been found eating rubbish thrown into the ocean (eg license plates). Basically, because they can, and because they are hungry, sharks can and often will eat more than just the largest creature they can find. Ludinus's hubris and hypocrisy aside, here's something I don't understand: if it's true that the gods "feed" on mortals adoration, how comes the Everlight, that had most of her flowers wiped out, receive as much power as the other gods when they regained their full divinity by the end of Downfall? The amount of followers didn't seem to impact the Betrayers in any way either. Also, it's not true that all of them reached the conclusion that the city should be destroyed. At the very least the Everlight and the Downfather were very against it and even with their lives at stake they prioritized going to a hospital to heed a desperate need for help. I get the "failed beings don't deserve to have all that power" perspective, which one can agree or disagree on, but it's mixed with so many lies, half truths and incomplete information... It also isn't lost on me how the gods destroyed a (tyrannical but also full of innocents) city that was trying to destroy them, but Ludinus destroyed a whole city because a failed experiment and it suddenly becomes a sacrifice for the greater good 😂😂😂 And then he's sure the power of Predathos won't do any harm to Exandria. He should be called Deludinus at this point. Edited for clarity ^^
@wiseathena97
@wiseathena97 5 ай бұрын
ok so I have a theory realted to this- I don't think the gods do feed on adoration. They predate humans and existed without their adoration before their creation. BH and Ludinus didn't see the prologue bit where the gods came into existence nor did they see the "epilogue" where the gods have shed their mortal form (they confirmed this on 4sd) so I think this is just an assumption ludinus has made that hasn't been disproven yet. its kinda frustrating bc if ludinus was less narrow minded he probably would've realized this hundreds of years ago if he reflected on what happened during the calamity beyond what impacted him directly (he was a kid them so I don't blame him if he didn't realize it at the time but not reflecting on it now is just stupid). Also Deludinus is good, I'm stealing that lol

@@wiseathena97 well there's this bit in downfall where Silaha/the Arch Heart "feeds" on the adoration of the aeormatons and mortals in the Ars Elysia - except the way it's described, it sounds more like they are bolstering the god (like some kind of inspiration or bonus that a party member could give you) rather than the god taking anything from them (and there is also them being more powerful in their temples) I guess it would be like saying a baby deserves to be put down because he feeds on his mother? like, until we're shown otherwise, the gods are doing as much damage when 'feeding" on mortal adoration. (now the damage that their cults have done... that's another issue entirely) maybe he thinks that way because when HE did it, with the harness, it actually killed his sources of energy.

Plus gods tried to prevent themselves being killed, Ludinus is killing fellow humanoids to... make a world order that he thinks will be better for humanoids. That's even more hypocritical in my opinion. Not only is he deciding for all people on Exandria what they'd like, he's also taking so many lives alongside it, and feels completely justified because they stood in his way. He's killing fey, killed a whole elf civilisation because he wanted to experiment (hello, Aeor level tragedy?) killing humanoids right and left and center, and is claiming to be a saviour to humanity. We could also argue how much of Cerberus's Assembly is guided by him and, if he cares about his fellow mortals so much, why did he turn a blind eye on all the atrocities within? @@Vergilius78 That feels quite bleak if I'm being honest. If her whole character arc is rising above her abuser and managing to escape all the negativity and make something good out of it regardless of what she's been through, then the opposite would be a very dangerous message. That would kinda slightly imply that for some people, no matter what they do and what they try to be, there is no hope for a better life. That doesn't seem to be type of thing the CR Crew would like to put out there as a message, considering the vast amount of their content has themes around redemption, such as Essek, Caleb and Scanlan.
