The price for Bill Nicholls is rediculous. Highest at discogs was 9.200$ even that seems an exception.
@TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf9 ай бұрын
It’s certainly not pocket change! I’ve seen there is one for sale for around 12K on discogs and is graded VG+. The copy in Berlin looked Nm and the record is mega rare, so I’d imagine someone with deep pockets will buy it… I’ll be happy with a reissue, unless I win the lottery! Cheers for watching pal, Jack

Berlin has some brilliant record stores. Galactic Supermarket looks like the sort of place t you could lose yourself for a week or two. Looking forward to seeing what you bought.

Hey Mike, I didn’t really scratch the surface of Galactic Supermarket to be honest! Never looked at the indie, soul, funk or classic rock. You definitely need deep pockets though as there was so much great stuff there!
@dannyhowell31845 ай бұрын
He's a little overpriced. Nice guy though. Berlin is real tourist trap and the hipsters have really increased the prices.

Hello Jack! I doubt if I’ll ever get out to Berlin so thank you for bringing us along with you. Great looking record shops and those beer 🍺 mugs 😮 Never mind Billy Nichols pour me some of that beer! That’s a very pricey record. Thanks for sharing.
@TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf9 ай бұрын
The records are good in Germany, but the beer is the best! You don’t need too many steins of beer to put you on your way 🙂 If you ever do get over to Germany, Düsseldorf is the place to go 👌Cheers for watching Steve!

Hey jack - This was a very cool tour. I feel the need to go to Berlin. I will be in Italy this summer, so I am hoping to deplete my cash reserves in a few record stores.
@TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf9 ай бұрын
Thanks Brian! Really enjoyed it. Whenever I’m looking for records on discogs, loads of the best prices seem to be from Italian sellers… I’ve bought a few vertigo swirls from Italian sellers for cheaper than I’d get in the uk. Make sure you’ve got extra room in your suitcase 😉

Been in Theo once and immediately got the insane owner wreaking havoc over absolutely nothing lol. What a guy. Never setting foot in there again. There are quite a few forum threads where people talk about their abysmal experiences with this POS, Galactic Supermarket one of the best
@TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf2 ай бұрын
🤣 The younger guy in the store is a real nice guy as well... must be insane for him working in there with the mad man! I don't think I've been in a better record store than Galactic Supermarket... the Krautrock Archive through the back is insane. Cheers for watching pal! Jack
@AverageRecords2 ай бұрын
@@TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf yeah, if Kraut and Psych are your main thing, I bet that is one of the better stores in the world, it's not my focus, but respect it and still always find some other nuggets in there that are more in line with what I look for myself. Owner and clientele are fun too
@TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf2 ай бұрын
@ there was so much stuff in there, I hardly had time to look at the other stuff. Do you know the Berlin stores well? Always looking for new recommendations for the next time I’m there.

I’m definitely going to hit up that Galactic record store next time I’m in Berlin…I spotted an OG Nomeansno - Wrong in the rare room which is one of my grails!

I think that might have been in the “semi-rare” room! I didn’t go through the punk in the rare room… I was a bit rushed for time! All the stuff was perfect condition and very expensive!

You’re right… that was the mega rare room… wish I’d flicked through the punk section too!

@@TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf yeah that’s the one! I saw the top of it, if that was the first one I can only imagine what else would have been there!

The rare rooms are not open to the public, only on request. I've only made it to the semi-rare room so far, although I'm a costumer for more than a decade now.
@TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf9 ай бұрын
@@stefangieck2914 Hey Stefan, I noticed he had a wooden barrier that he pulled across the entrance to the semi-rare room when the shop got busy. I think the rare room doubled as the shop’s office, but the owner was great letting me look around and showing off what he had. You’re lucky getting to go there for ten years… amazing record shop! Thanks for watching pal, Jack

Hi Jack, I ‘ m in Berlin for a couple of days looking for German and Italian Prog , unfortunately Galactic doesn’t open til Friday , can you recommend best for prog/ kraut of the places you visited . As you say lots of walking
@TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf9 ай бұрын
Hi Graham, that’s annoying that Galactic only opens from Friday. Da Capo, Franz & Josef and Berlin Record Store are all within walking distance of one another and have good prog / krautrock sections. I’ve heard Vinyl A Go Go is good, but it’s a little further out to the east of Berlin. I never got there this visit, but in the past I’ve went round the vinyl stalls at the flea market around Museum Island need the Hackescher Markt. They were good too. Hope you find what you’re after and enjoy Berlin! Cheers for watching, Jack
