I picked up new to my collection Sloan Navy Blues, Blue Rodeo Palace Of Gold, Mercy Playground Lunch, Recess & Detention, Collective Soul 7even Year Itch, Sarah McLachlan Mirrorball, The best of sweet, Gnarls Barkley St Elsewhere, Loreen McKennitt Live in Paris & Toronto all of these were on CD.

Great job Brendon! In our area the line was very long too I was there about 90 minutes before opening. Bought Stevie Nicks, Tori Amos, Sisters of Mercy, Taylor Swift and the main one I wanted - YES. The quality on the YES is really good playing it now. Have a great day.

Stopped by Sound Exchange around 11am and got everything I needed (6 titles) except for The Donnas and Undeath live. Stood on line for about 5 minutes before being waved in. Couldn't have been easier. Great job Sound Exchange! Thanks. Then I got onto Discogs and picked up Donnas, Undeath and This Lizzy for decent prices! RSD 2023 was a complete success!

Saw a clip of Sammy Hagar gushing about the VH live release on vinyl. If you read his book, he was less than complimentary about the album since most of it was re-recorded in the studio. Oh well -- looked like Sound Exchange had a big $$$ day with folks buying RSD music. THX for sharing, Brendon!

While I haven't really taken part in Record Store Day the last few years (just nothing I wanted to pay inflated prices for), I ended up stopping by a store yesterday. It was long after the crowds had grabbed up what they wanted. My reason for stopping by was so I could pick up the new Ian Hunter CD 'Defiance Part 1' that came out on Friday. That said, I do love these videos.

I got Midlake live at Roundhouse. I actually had never heard that band before and the record store was playing it. The pressing sounds great!! I was initially going for some Rap albums ..

Had to work so I went to my closest record store after work at about 3 pm looking for Soul Asylum Unplugged. Said they sold out that morning, so the next morning got online and ordered a copy from a place called Yellow Racket Records.

Great video! I drove to Bull Moose Music in Salem, New Hampshire and picked up Edgar Froese's Ages and the self titled Baker-Gurvitz Army album. They had sold out of the 3-LP Tangerine Dream set, though. :(

Went to The House Of Guitars in Rochester Ny… yesterday, my first time going to a record store day event… only picked up 2 cds… Saga Silent Knight 2021 remaster ( in the dreaded digy pack! Haha) and the 3rd Macauley Schenker 1992 self titled cd in a old beat up jewel case

Have to say I was surprised at the amount of people at my local store, no doubt it was the Taylor Swift bringing folks out. I was able to buy most of the items I wanted, had to pick up the cd version of Eric Carr no vinyls were left. Going to be checking out a couple of places that do on line sales today to see what else I can get, they sell their stuff at the same RSD prices as yesterday no sticking it to the buying.

This has been my first record store day, and what I like most is that almost everyone seems to be excited about something different. Maybe that will encourage more artists to make something new, because I did feel things were tending a bit towards collectible novelties instead of new music. The Ennio Morricone looked interesting, but for over $50 I just don't know. I got the Edgar Froese, Tangerine Dream, and Tom Tom Club.

It’s been very rare for an artist to put out actual new studio material for RSD. I know Kirk Hammett of Metallica put his EP out last year. But outside of that it’s usually archival material like demos, outtakes, live, or it’s reissues of older out of print albums.

75000 is still a pretty rare for taylor cuz think about it, for taylor's glendale the eras tour show, one single night's amount of tickets is very close to 75000, plus her vinyls for all of her albums sold more than 1.625 million copies total just in 2022

Surprising and interesting to see you show us the front and back of a CD by indie/dance-rock band the 1975. I can't believe there are so many of these bands that exist, influenced by 80s new wave and post-punk. I'm not feeling the hype with these modern dance-rock bands and their crazy popularity. Disappointed that there was NOT a RSD release for newer modern day "retro rock" artists like Dirty Honey, Rival Sons, Blackberry Smoke or Marcus King.

I’m sort of surprised every band doesn’t get in on RSD. Most bands should have plenty of archival material whether demos, alternate takes, or live that any band could make a release if they chose.

The only album I wanted was the Eric carr Rockology and my store was sold out. I’ve never done a record store day before so I didn’t know I had to go early. Do you think they’d make more pressings?

No it was a limited run of only 200. RSD is good about not going back and reprinting and actually keeping something limited.

I got everything I wanted on the next day! My biggest problem is the price hike- everything on the 12" front was US$20 higher at least this year- Why??? US25.00 for 7" - come on!!

I keep hoping they will release "The Sicilian Defense" as a standalone item. So far, it's only available in the Complete Albums boxset, and I can't justify rebuying every title for just one album.

Notice how they don't put numbers on the "Limited Edition" records anymore. They can tell you only 1,000 were pressed, but nothing is stopping them from pressing 100,000 of them.

Hey! I went later and there wasn’t much left but I did pick up Stevie Nicks. It sounds great but the packaging was pretty lame. I mean there’s a gatefold but only had 4 small pics from the performance. Don’t know what I was expecting but was hoping for it to be filled with pics or maybe one large photo that took up the entire gatefold. Shockingly there was still two copies of Van Halen and a couple of Warren Zevon. Not into Warren so left it for someone else. Picked up the Van Halen but had second thoughts. Mainly because I had it on CD back in the day and really only listened to it a few times (just didn’t care for it) and truly didn’t want to spend the $100. I like VH but can’t say I ever loved them. So once again, I left it for someone else who’d enjoy it more than me. But because of that I decided to hit up a couple other places that sell used vinyl and found one of my “grails”. Ozzy Tribute on vinyl in amazing condition! Unfortunately they wanted $50 for it and I rarely pay that much for an album but I recently got a promotion at work and it was an album I always hoped I’d find on vinyl so I did pull the trigger on that one. So for me, although I was interested in a couple titles I didn’t get, I’m still happy with my purchases.

Would love to have engaged the fellow with GD ski cap (saw them 8 times). Also, one of the first people you talked to who was looking for Brian Eno LPs (one of my favorites). Sorry, even though I have the first two Amboy Dukes LPs, I will not purchase material from a man who has threatened the life of one of our former presidents. It's a free country and we all have our opinions, but this last week with the hate filled gun violence, I feel very discouraged.

Yeah I have to ignore the things Ted says. I disagree with them but loved his music before he began acting this way. There was a period of time that I had to stop listening to him. But now I just ignore him and enjoy the music. Especially the earlier stuff.

@@BrendonSnyder I always enjoy your videos. I believe your taste in music overlaps mine to a large extent but being older, it was bands like The Who that I was really weaned on. I guess I'm being hypocritical in some regards if I keep those Amboy Dukes LPs (oh, yes, I believe I may have the "Stranglehold" LP somewhere too), but it really wasn't all that hard letting go Nugent's other stuff (I really don't think he is all that). I remember once when he critiqued George Harrison by saying: "you will never hear my guitar 'gently weep' (actually that was probably Eric Clapton). That's my problem with him. He's a "one note" Johnny.

The live recordings, out takes, lost tape, remixes, demo's, alternate versions, picture disks, etc is just a way for bands and labels to sell junk that didn't make the cut. People actually become a homeless person for a night for some of this junk, I bet nobody would camp on the streets if this stuff wasn't "limited"

Not true at all. Archival releases account for more album sales today than new studio albums. That’s why so many bands are releasing deluxe editions and boxsets. Fans enjoy hearing the process and the what might have been sceneries. If you’re not into it, that’s cool. But no need to rain on other’s parades.

A Wilco fan, huh? I was on speed for a little while in 2015 and my job had me driving and hour to work so there were only three albums I listened to: Summerteeth, Spoon’s Girls Can Tell, Slipknot’s The Grey Chapter, and The Black Keys Blue Album (which is fucking phenomenal!). So anyway, now when I listen to those albums it brings back a lot of nostalgia due to my intensity while listening.

I’m surprised you didn’t get the Francis the mute single, the cut song from the 2nd Mars Volta album. I bought the single on CD at Best Buy when the album came out but apparently they put it out on vinyl for Record store day.
