I ran across these vids the other day, and all my free time lately has been devoted to them. Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for this series! Are you using a HP filter coming into the desk for the acoustic, or one on the pre? Cheers,

Hey Jacquire, huge fan of your work! Thanks for releasing all these video series, I have been binging them nonstop. Quick question - what is the electrical noise/buzz that’s present when the mic is armed? I heard it in the last video where you were setting up the Mojave placement and in this video too. Is that noise coming from the Mojave itself, or is it noise from the console or the talkback system? If it’s coming from the mic, is this noise something to be concerned about when recording or is it just going to be inherent when using certain types of mics? Thanks in advance!

Thanks. Hard to say at this point what was creating the noise but it’s often an issue to manage with recorded signals. There is always a noise floor and honestly some low level noise can be helpful in the ‘glue’ a sound has but it must be low enough to not harm the sound being captured. We must always look to optimize that situation.

I love these vids! Can i ask a question? If yes: Why record an acoustic? Just as a filler?

These videos are all great! Are you checking phase on the 2 mic setup ? I find that moving the mics around even an inch or 2 on acoustic often radically changes the phase …
@JacquireKing14 күн бұрын
Always check polarity on even single mics and phase additionally when there are multiple

@ a Jacquire video on phase checking alone perhaps.. ? could be a banger

Not sure if its lost in the algorithm on youtube or my headphones. But i could hardly hear the difference in those compression ssttings on the acoustic. Perhaps i could hear the body of the guitar rise with the slow release but he moved on pretty quick.

I was thinking about the input thing, why not just drop him in earlier? He would still hear himself and the punch edit is all non-destructive etc. Just thinking about this, I’ve never heard of switching an artist into input before the punch. It’s interesting. Just thinking about it.
@JacquireKing11 күн бұрын
Why punch them into a part that is good that then you have to keep track of repairing. To each their own i like my method and it’s also how you need to work on tape as that is destructive

This may be a stupid question but are you recording and playing back at the same time or are you muting it so it does not get picked up by the time? I assume he was isolated but it seems he's in the room.

I don’t understand the question

He seems to be isolated in another room so no monitoring issue here :)

@@JacquireKing Is he in the same room as you or is he isolated so that your monitors playback aren't being picked up by his mic as he's recording?

@@jimbergson I could tell now. 33 minutes in helped. Thanks
