Sir" you just single handedly turned my learning curve from upside down--- to rightside up, I will forever be thankfull . As primary songwriter bassplayer for a southern rock band 80s to early 90s I had very little hope that a simi low tec no tec Grandfather like myself could ever produce music like our sound engineer did for us back in the day (we called it sound guy or volenteer from radio shack or next door nieghbor) my purchase, and download of studio one artist version experience went very well. Your tutorial vids just made it come together for me like a well oiled machine, Cant wait to get the booster pack, and try easy drummer, or maybe some of the other individual downloads . GodBless

Trouble is, my Studio One (v2.6.5.30360)doesn't have a 'loops' section. My program came with the Audiobox usb. Seems you have to pay out $00's to get the full program. So, open source it is for me. The program doesn't seem good enough to warrant an upgrade of that price. I would have preferred to have a time limited but full version, since I can't make a sound judgement on a product that is limited.

Great video! I just bought a Spark amp, which includes PreSonus Studio One. I play guitar and bass, but not drums. I was hoping Studio One would have a feature that would allow me to easily add a simple drum track. This video rang the bell. Thanks!!

Thanks for covering this, it looks I was on the right track, but I felt like the files should go up against each other easier, not having to zoom in so closely to align, it does seems like there should be a better way for the DAW to assist? Much appreciated though!

Great video. But,I dragged the loops onto the track, and wanted to listen to everything strung together, but noticed, I have no scroll bar scrolling?? Not sure if it's a bug, or something I turned off. 4 days later back to edit this post: found I can get my scroll bar visible again if I don't maximize the app on my monitor, and make it a little smaller in size. But, the scroll bar still comes and goes, and I need to open a midi track "graph editor" to make it appear, then it disappears when I view "Console".

I watched this video again and very instructive and nicely explained. Can I ask a question about tracks please. How do you make all the tracks have less height (shrink them) so that you could for instance, see 24 tracks on the screen all at once? I would like to collapse all the tracks in one move rather then individually. Thanks as always. Phil NYC Area

Hi, at about 4 minutes into the video, you mention that you need a Booster pack to record EZ Drummer with S1 Artist. Can i just make sure i've got this right? Do you need a booster pack for S1 PRO V4 (which is what i have) or is it only required for the Artist version? I was under the impression that i would only need to get a Midi pad (Akai Mini Mk2) for drum programming.

Theres actually not a lot of reason to get this if your getting a mac, this isn't mac specific software and its not revolutionary. There are tons of Mac specific software with insane tools like auto drummers and tons of free instruments that you can use that are cheap or free with a mac. I like studio 1 but if I dropped 1.5k on a laptop id want to get the software that it buys me. Because I could easily build an absolute monster pc and buy protools for the same price.

What he doesn't say here, is that the version of Studio One software that comes with your midi device, i.e. Audiobox USB, is not worth bothering with, more than half of the functionality is disabled and you are forced to pay out for the full program if you want to use it. Which comes in around £200. Personally, I'd use a third party product. But that is just my opinion.

Is this video about making 'a drum track' actually seriously just saying "drag in the 1 loop option that is included with Studio one"? I mean that is not 'how to create a drum track', that's literally just click and drag the stuff that's already there into the other window pane. Shit out of luck if you actually want to make anything with a drum beat different to the SINGLE loop that it shows in that video.
