I love this! Bill Jackson is great and Mathieu Bitton always knows his stuff. These Sunset Sound sessions are always smoking. Regarding "Sexy Shooter/She's Always In My Hair, the story they tell seems accurate. The reason Prince listed “Sex Shooter” on the work order can probably be traced to the influence of the Apollonia 6 song, which was strongly featured in the Purple Rain movie (which had just finished shooting days earlier). Prince literally sampled himself when he took the lead line from Apollonia 6’s “Sex Shooter” (the four-note riff heard at 0:09), slowing it down slightly to create a recognizable sequence that comes between “she’s always there” and “telling me how much she cares” at 0:43 of “She’s Always in My Hair.” THANK YOU Drew Dempsey for doing these! Every one of them is amazing!

Hi Duane, I've met you a couple times. And, you know a friend of mine--Michael Hack. I remember having a cassette with Prince singing "Sex Shooter" at the end of "She's Always..." it was a studio version. Been to tons of shows, been collecting boots since a long time, and even interned at Paisley long ago. But, I could never replace/track down the recording. I use to have a mainline to some outtakes too. Anyway! Love your archival work and insight.

Susan Rogers said she was there when Prince did When Doves Cry and he unproduced it while she was there and finished by removing the bass and said: "They'll never believe I did this."

As a Prince fan I would like to thank everyone at Sunset Sound for putting these interviews together. It sounds like Prince was a Brilliant/difficult person to work with. But the end result was and will be enjoyed for yrs and yrs to come. The music he recorded there, do you still have access to the original recordings? Thanks for taking the time Mr Jackson.

Mathieu knows his stuff, sure. But, I wanted to hear Bill Jackson talk about the nuts and bolts. Some of hardcore fans know the history of the song, and trivia---What we really want is hearing the people in the room that day.

She's always in my hair, according to Jesse Johnson and others it's about Jill Jones. She even addresses it in several interviews.

Musically, this song borrows a lot from 'Dirty Laundry' by Don Henley.
