3:25 Sorry, I did not understand everything. So, via USB, Can I record with effects directly? or, necessarily, I will have to just record the dry guitar first and after that, start adding the effects? I really just want to connect via USB and record everything that, in that moment, I thought I was using.
@jonahpaz.6 жыл бұрын
The sound quality that I could get by using the built in interface is the same (or even better) as the sound quality that I could get using an external audio interface (like the scarlett 2i2) ?

Hello, When I use Helix as a USB interface, It doesn't work well in my DAW software (Cubase). I tried increasing the buffer size but it's still not working well. Using my POD HD500 with the same PC and DAW software, It works perfect. I tried re-installing drivers (last version, V1.87) but the problem persists. Any idea? Thanks!

With Pod go can I do the same? After I record dry can I play the recording and from Pod can I add effects or change amp?

Hi, Yes you can. The reamp works in the same way but you record and play the re-amp signal on USB 3/4.

You are an excellent sound engineer playing with the Helix. I think all this distracts from playing and musicality. Its good for gear heads, but sometimes don't you think the gear gets in the way and you spend more time on tweaking the gear than playing? I love your playing by the way, my friends and I just beginning to think this is everyone trying to become Mike Oldfield.

How do you go about recording Helix MONO. Like you've walked up and stuck a mic in front of a cab? When I run mono out (left) it sound a bit muffled.
@paulhindmarshmusic6 жыл бұрын
I record in mono quite a bit, and I've not had that problem. Depending on the project, I just record a mono signal (so its better to mix), then add the stereo wet effects later using Helix Native on a buss. A common preset will be mono effects into a mono amp and cab. Even if the preset has delays or Reverbs I often switch them off when recording.

What all would I need to hook the helix up at home? If I didn't run it into an amp or speaker cab and just hooked it up to my Macintosh computer. Would it work? What if I plugged in a pair of headphones into the helix. Would it work then?

Kemper or Helix ? Kemper - Buy IR/ Tones/ Model + Edit in Helix?? The big question mmmmm. Someone please convince me the way to go...
@retorgere37183 жыл бұрын
I was not convinced to buy presets and IRs But I bought one preset just to try it and I ended up buying bunch of presets and IRs . With getting presets free or buying it , you will get to learn how the presets are made I mean you would know how to use the effects in the chain , the right parameters. I got slash preset and I felt like I want to edit the preset I made new settings for that preset and the results is amazing . I found The IRs are very important so you get the tone you like accurately.

The proper name for this video would be, "Recording in a Professional Environment." If you only have a Helix and are looking for tips on hooking it up to your PC for recording, this video is totally useless. First, the Helix will NOT sound as good without all the fancy studio stuff they have. Second, I don't see the point of skimming over some general steps without going into much detail. The fancy camera work and the fancy gear is all very well, but I'm none the wiser after watching this, and I still have to look for practical advice elsewhere. I appreciate your marketing efforts, but please get more down to earth.
@agaolek67024 жыл бұрын
Hi James, I just read your comment and I am wondering how it all works- what do you mean by the 'fancy studio gear'? Does it mean that the Helix will sound a lot better if used through a 'fancy' interface (or whatever else, and what is it??), than if I use it simply via a basic audio interface and Mac laptop? I am just wondering how does it work as I am using it for recording and I am not happy with the results so far, and I didn't even realise there is a way forward! I will be grateful for any explanation on this, thanks in advance man!
@a.l.10444 жыл бұрын
@@agaolek6702 After I bought my Helix I spent several months trying to make it sound the way it does in the demos. But I never got close to the demo tones. I started to research the topic, trying to understand what causes the difference. From the Line 6 forum I learned that guitar bloggers use various techniques to come up with the tones you hear in their videos. Say, they can use double tracking and professional postproccesing. That makes their tones sound way different than the "raw" tone you get playing live through the same preset. They also use additional Helix gear such as Line 6 power cabs and Variax guitars, which do make the Helix sound far better than it does on its own (there are Helix vs. Helix Thru Powercab vids here on KZbin). But for some reason, they rarely if ever explain how they get the tones they are demonstrating. Maybe because as professional musicians they're so used to using the Helix the way they do that it doesn't occur to them the average user can be unaware of what the professionals think is so obvious it doesn't need be explained. Anyway, if you're not happy with your Helix tones, my advice would be to keep trying different options. I am making a little progress by experimenting with my guitar's setup, my playing technique, and additional gear. For example, I discovered my Helix tone benefits from (a) my pickups being lowered all the way down; (b) using a lighter attack (I am a heavy strummer); and (c) having a turned-off physical reverb pedal hooked up to the Helix through Send/Return (it somehow makes the tone less harsh and adds a cab-like ambience to the tone). These tips might not work for you, but if you keep trying different options, sooner or later you're sure to hit upon the solution that's right for you.
