I'm not a fan of some of the names of the departed receiving louder applause than others and some greeted with total silence - that is to say, the amount of applause your life receives being determined by your level of public or industry fame/popularity. People should either clap equally for every name or - more sensibly - shut up and listen to the beautiful in memoriam performance and clap for everyone at the end (which I've seen done at other ceremonies). This is about death, not reading off nominations for some award.
@jennifer55122 жыл бұрын
I agree. It should be completely silent.
@studiokastle2 жыл бұрын
i get it. however, some people’s time on this earth did, in fact, have more of an impact than others. i get the whole not wanting people to feel left out or being seen as not important, but in terms of impact on music, the names that received the applause were well deserved. it wasn’t just their popularity that earned them the applause, but their impact and the legacy they left behind.

I agree. this isn't a high school graduation. They should all receive the same level of respect
@blackbroadwayandbeyond2 жыл бұрын
@@studiokastle I don't think this is necessarily true. It's who THIS particular audience recognizes that get the biggest applause. For example, Marilyn and Alan Bergman wrote many amazing songs that have been sung by some of the greatest voices of all time and are part of the canon of Great American Songbook, but when Marilyn's picture came up, she got next to no applause with this crowd. I don't think she would have gotten the same reaction with a different crowd. Same for James Mtume. I can't even count how many rappers and singers have taken this man's songs to make hits of their own. I'm a millennial, but I was fortunate enough that my parents raised me and my brother on all kinds of music of every genre, so I can recognize and appreciate the impact of artists from Marilyn Bergman to Biz Markie to James Mtume to DMX to Stephen Sondheim. They all got applause from me.

@Jackie Cvk Whoever you were that just replied to me. Rachel is literally polish which is the neighbouring country to Gemany. 2nd of all, snow white is not German, the author is, she's set in a fictional land. 3rd of all she looks EXATCLY like the animated version. 4th of all stop with the "i don't mean to be racist". 5th of all she's a white latina woman, so idk why you brung up race. & 6th of all, all those points don't even need to be there because she has all the qualities to play the character. Her and Halle Bailey as Ariel are the best castings Disney's ever made, because for one's they focused on the spirit of the characters instead of the physical appearance. She is the perfect Snow White. End of conversation. Maybe you realised how stupid the comment was and deleted it, proud of you.
