@leserrors7669- Don’t get me wrong, if the dramatic and/or biopic role was the best if the year, then it’s totally deserving to win, like Cillian Murphy in “Oppenheimer”. I’m just saying, movie roles from genre films often gets overlooked at awards shows, in favor for the more “prestigious” dramatic performances, and it gets pretty stale overtime to see the same type of roles win every single year. So it’s a pleasant surprise to a few “genre” type roles get nominated or win. (Natalie Portman for “Black Swan”, Robert Downey Jr. for “Tropic Thunder”, Daniel Kaluuya for “Get Out”, Maria Bakalova for “Borat”, and Michelle Yeoh” for “Everything, Everywhere, All At Once”.

For those saying Lily should have one, her role was more of a supporting, not lead role, all things considered. Emma's role is the lead role in her movie. If Lily had been nominated for supporting actress she would have won.
@dinh55329 ай бұрын
Not really, remember the criteria for a leading role-Lily qualified. Emma's a good actress but this wasn't a great role, just to move and act weird doesn't cut it for me. Again, two steps forward, one step back...hail to the white people I guess...
@lockekappa5009 ай бұрын
I was gonna say this. As much as Lilly commanded the screen when she was on it, for narrative reasons, she was sidelined for a very large portion of the film (imo to its detriment) I can see why someone would pass up on her performance.

I felt that Lily Gladstone would’ve absolutely swept all of the awards if she’d completed in the supporting category, which was much less competitive than in Lead Actress. Viola Davis put herself in supporting to not compete against Emma in lead and they both ended up winning and it could’ve happened again this year.

Emma put everything on the line. Performance and character of a lifetime. Academy got it right, most voted her like they did with Olivia Coleman. We saw everything that an actress could humanely possibly do artistically in one film. She is in the ranks of actresses that have won 2 Oscars in leading and or supporting roles. Deep down it is about the people that she worked with and doing her job as an actor over winning awards!
