Records show baby died after University of Tampa student gave birth in bathroom

The mother of a baby found dead in a garbage bin at the University of Tampa on Sunday told police she gave birth to the baby in a dorm bathroom before it briefly cried and then died, recently released court records show.

Assuming she's correct and baby died without her causing it. Then she'd only likely be charged with improper disposal of a corpse. Which happened in Lakeland last year too. It's common sadly for people who didn't know they where pregnant to have stillborns or babies that die quickly they they panic and dispose of improperly.

Ok. Young and confused and all of that. But based on what I am getting from this story. She absolutely knew what was going on. No arrest or charges. It's almost like law enforcement is treating this like animal neglect or cruelty and letting a pet dog or cat die and then. Wrap it up and head to the dumpster. This is just horrible. I'm just confused. She didn't feel a heartbeat, so she goes showers, and the next day throws the baby in the trash. Yes 19 (but still she's an adult) is a young age, but she should've known better/handled the situation better. For all we know, that baby could've had a chance of survival.

So my daughter goes to UT and has talked to people that new her, and stated that when she delivered the baby, the baby was crying and held her tight to her chest and that was when it apparently stoped crying. All I know is multiple students heard the baby cry. Then put the baby on her desk and went back to sleep. Just a horrible horrible thing, my thoughts and prayers go out to the students that had to deal with it and most of all to her parents. I’m extremely close to my daughter and we tell each other everything. Please talk to your kids and tell them it’s ok to call home, whether it’s drinking, drugs ex, we will help you get the help you need and talk you through it.

I think they would want to know the cause of death first. If it died seconds after birth, she wouldn't be charged with murder. It would most likely be something like mishandling of a corpse.
