Thank you for sharing your journey, the low road, the high road and the ditches in-between. You've got a good mind and a knack for survival and that give you an advantage in this game of Life. Utilize that gift and keep on movin'on. I do hope that your kids and Mother are able to see the you of today and let the memory of the old you fade. Just don't you let the necessary transgressions of your past drag you down. It's okay to have regrets but don't get into a competition and measure the virtues of today, that's a foot race that's rigged in guilt and shame that you can't win. All the best to you. ☮️

I FEEL this story! ❤ I grew up in an average middle class life, became a Probation Officer. Fast Forward 6 years I quit my job, moved states away & started doing Meth. One day you really do realize you’re at the bottom of the barrel, doing things you would have never done. It’s a very hard drug to get off of. Very hard but it’s worth it to not live every day completely hating yourself. ❤ If you’re struggling today & the best you can do is stay alive until tomorrow, keep doing that! One day you’ll be happy you did!

Lindsay reminds me a lot of my father when he talks about his past drug use. He got clean before I was born, but prior to that, he'd done everything AND drank like a sailor. He shares his stories and laughs and smiles like it was the time of his life, but you can tell they're only good memories because it's all in hindsight. He went through hell, and now he's a fat happy old retired dude with no police record, never even been arrested. I can tell he misses the "fun" of it all, the excitement, but he'd never do it again. Not for anything. "A boring life is a good life." Damn right.

I don’t think many people understand what an amazing feat this is. Meth is excruciating hard to quit. With long enough use, crystal meth will eventually destroy the brain’s dopamine receptors, making it impossible for someone to feel pleasure. I read a study that said The average meth using person finds crystal meth use to be 12x more pleasurable than having sex.and only after 12 months of sobriety can the dopamine receptors in the brain begin to heal and start to repair Lindsey’s story reminds me of a Japanese proverb: “Fall down 7 times, get up 8” .While we are all sure to face failures along the way to our goals, we must continue to get up and keep trying. choosing to never give up hope. Stay the course Lindsey. Your life and recovery are a gift and miracle. Thank you for sharing it with us. ☮️

Congratulations on your recovery. My husband is currently in rehab and he doesn't admit to all the hurt he caused our family. Especially our children. All his family has come together for his recovery. He keeps complaining about how long he has been in the facility and misses his freedom. He has been in there for 4 months. We are doing family therapy with him. Feels like a waste of time, he avoids certain conversations or gets irritated when things are brought up to his attention.

I'm 63. When I was in high school Crystal was everywhere then. The bikers sold it. It WAS "good", strong, etc. I do not recall one friend however, getting strung out. It was cheap too. I hears a few stories in my 20s of some bikers being strung out but not in high school. I can't help but wonder if it's not today's scociety. We're we more self discipline the back then? It seemed it was done on special occasions and every now and then they would be around but I never saw anybody with rotten teeth who did it day and night. The fact that it was very available just makes me wonder. I've heard so many people say you just try it once and that's it. I don't believe that. It does not have a physical addiction like opiates. It's a mental addiction that can be overcome or avoided without mass consumption. I love to hear from some people back in the 70s what they think. Good luck to Lindsay stay straight girl

Meth made with pseudo is a different beast than "biker speed". Pseudo speed is 100% psychoactive whereas 50% of biker speed is not really that active in the body. The difference between d-meth and l-meth, d-meth is the active version which is the product made using pseudo. Biker speed makes a 50-50 mix of both types. Meth has been around for years but it really started destroying lives big time when it started being made from pseudo....

I actually love that she can talk about parts of her experience in addiction in a humorous or nostalgic way. I think it’s a really interesting way to honor the person she was during that time by acknowledging she was having fun on SOME level. Obviously it was destructive but I think this attitude might help alleviate some of the shame associated with remembering the past. ❤

Congratulations to you for making it out that dark ungrounded hole. That takes a very strong powerful person to get out that place. You are an amazing person. You got this now, keep on loving yourself, because you deserve a good life, you just have to keep your strength to keep up that good fight to stay ahead. Nothing is easy, but you proved to yourself that you can do good for you and your son. At the same sense, you loose yourself mentally on that crap. It isn’t worth loosing everything again. Lindsay, I hope you check in once in a while to read comments. I could've turned into a speed freak as a teen (this was when pills were easily available), but I chose alcohol as my drug-of-choice. I've not had a drink of it in almost thirty-six years. It hasn't always been great, but it's better than it was when I was a drunk. It's always heartening to me to hear of the success of others in staying clean, no matter how much time they've got. Also, you come across as a person that I'd like to hang out with. Lots of love and luck from me to you!
