Great channel! But I had a couple of questions, is there a specific depth at which a sunken boat is considered unsalvageable (either at sea or in a lake) and can be left there? I assume using the floating crane and divers with airbags have their limits. And if a sunken boat can be left to rest below certain depth, how is the environmental impact minimized?

If the boat is at 130 ft deep a recreational diver who doesn't want to do decompression stops, has 7 minutes to do the job and only 2 dives a day, so the best would be to used tec divers, but those will cost a lot. Anybody can make a square knot pretty fast at the surface but it takes longer at 100 feet, it's unbelievable, what the pressure and nitrogen narcosis can do. You better hope your boat is at 30 ft deep. Recreational diver should never go deeper than 130 feet. I hope this helps you out on one point. On the other point, you can always a sailboat without fuel. That means no engine or electric propulsion. Today we are spoiled, in the old days engine did not exist and the made due. Lin and Larry Pardey sailed around the world and Cape Horn without an engine. Elecric is the way to go, then for the evironement all you have to do is recuperate the batteries.

Could you do a bit of a comparison of Stern Types? I see a lot of personal opinions online but not a lot of clear explanations as to advantages and disadvantages of various form factors and boat types. Thanks, Keep up the great work.

@@ImproveSailing Thanks, Your videos are great. You are extremely relatable, well spoken, sincere and enjoyable person to learn from. Well done. I'm looking in the near future at building a 16 to 19 ft wooden sailboat for the experience and the fun of day sailing in freshwater. I have been soaking up as much information as possible for the last few months and am thankful for finding your channel. Take care,

As per my experience you are widely -huuuugely- of the mark. the prices you mention is if you want to retrieve a boat of less than 10 meters. if it is agreed that the vessel will be lost without their help, the “law of the sea” states that the commercal operation can claim a percentage of the value of the yacht, which can run in hundreds of thousands of euros.
