Hi, I am in a water rescue organization and when we have an unclear sonar image, we send down a remotely operated diving robot to clarify the situation. These things are not cheap, but neither are good sonar units. Increases in any case the safety because you can reduce unnecessary dives. Only as a tip. ;)

@lotharschiese8559 Жыл бұрын
A tip? HELLO NO! Mr. Sparks needs to step up to the plate. Do some research, Dave. Find some outfit to sponsor the use of a ROV, but you'll be paying the driver and the technicians! Solicit different companies on the premise that you will provide video of your experience with their product and you intend to buy the best, simple competition! What about military rated equipment, who makes the stuff, for them. Do your Googling on a Laptop, can save to an easy folder on the desktop. Refer them to this URL so that they can better appreciate what it is that you do for your community and the challenges you face. Include reference to your other videos of underwater retrievals. 😶🌫👀🖖

TOTALLY AGREE!! We here up in Canada use a $50. submersible camera on a tether and lower it down to the target to get a great eye on what it actually is. I don't understand why people even use many thousand dollar submersibles to send down when you can just lower an amazon grade camera and see it real time on night vision?! A couple hundred feet of cable is the biggest hurdle to get past. Cheers!

My job is finding stuff under water. Trust me when I say you need to sit down and plan this properly. At these depths, you need a towed sidescan and not a hull mounted. That way you can get closer to the bottom and minimise the slant range (the black stuff) It can be as easy as taking that Humminbird sonar and mounting it to a small torpedo shaped object towed from the nose with some fins at the back. You will cover a wider area with good resolution and if you keep track of the amount of cable you have out, you will also get decent positioning.
@RV_Chef_Life Жыл бұрын
When Two beards team up like that, you know it’s going to be good 👍

Hate to undermine Doug here but the issue is not that he is on boarding more nitrogen gas while diving as there are plenty of people that dive deeper and for longer. The issue actually lies with the elevation the atmosphere has a lesser pressure allowing the pressure gradient after a dive to be more drastic as compared to sea level. This means that the nitrogen that was absorbed by his body will try and dissolve quicker because of the increased pressure gradient and therefor is more likely to produce nitrogen bubbles which is the cause of Nitrogen narcosis. PSA I am also a professional Diver with an international diving organization and have years + hundreds of dives under my belt. Im not just some armchair expert.

Hi Dave, interesting video, thanks!! If you plan on doing more underwater search and rescue work maybe you should consider investing in a Tow-able scanning sonar unit. easily pulled behind any boat at whatever depth you need and sends data to a computer that provides a detailed hi-res image of the bottom and any objects down there. a bit pricey for recreational use but probably a bargain compared to several days operating and transporting costs for all the equipment used to create a video like this. fun video, thanks again , better luck next time! keep up the great work!
