Image path is just referring to the file name of the picture (like ”Mom_Birthday.jpg”. The end of the address is referring to the location of the file, like Users/YourName/Documents/WhateverElse So you’ll end up with something like: Users/YourName/Documents/WhateverElse/Mom_Birthday.jpg

Solution 4 is DUMB and a blatant push towards some program who probably sponsors you. Who in their right mind deletes pictures because they can't find the photo viewer listed in the programs? So dumb. Also your earlier step said something like... Solution 1 said "Be sure to add an appropriate image path to the end of the address" - like WTH does that even mean? Thank you so much. My main reason for using Windows Photo Viewer is that it provides a lot more options when printing directly from the photo viewer application. The new Windows Photos app only allows you to choose to print in landscape or portrait, but the old Windows Photo Viewer lets you choose the print size.

For all the "What is an appropriate image path comments" Here is a quick How to on creating that image path: Grab a jpg image, name it image.jpg, paste a copy of image.jpg to the root of your C:\ then use this path without the quotes before/after: " rundll32 "%programfiles%\windows photo viewer\photoviewer.dll",imageview_fullscreen c:\image.jpg" If no permissions to the root of your C: drive, try creating a temp folder under C and use c:\temp\image.jpg. The old photo viewer forces a Save to disk when rotating an image before navigating to the next image. The default Windows 10 Photo app does not! If you are rotating multiple HI-RES images one after the other, the default Windows Photo 10 app will cause headaches, as Windows will get the rotate command mixed up with the wrong image!

the problem with the photo app is that it has many bugs, like showing the same photo twice while there is not a duplicate in the folder. Sometimes a picture isn't viewed depending on which photo you open first, it's a mess lol.

This stuff shows that these developers are highly educated but not at all smart.. Absolutely idiotic that we can not get the old program that was always bulit proof and easy to use and they replace it with a program that simply just doesn't work. It is SLOW even on a gaming PC. (at the same time it is extremely basic which I find a plus but than why is it slower than Photoshop?) It's got a mind of it's own. It jumps back to previous pictures whenever it feels like resulting in me deleting the wrong picture. They just simply don't have control over this program. It is not ready developed and tested or they have an extremely low standard. Why o why do they force this rubbish down our throats and refuse us the good option we always had? Why is there no one that just makes a copy of the good old Windows fotoviewer? Just act normal for a change instead of this forcing your rubbish new invetions on the consumer if not by free will than by force 🤯 Try to go outside from time to time. Mix with other human beings and regain some reality.

Open with does not offer the Windows Photo Viewer. The only "exe" in that folder is "ImagingDevices.exe" and then it asks other questions about devices??? I tried the registry thing, and it did NOTHING. The key is there, but nothing changed. Developers must love the chaos they cause

I have no idea if the apps is any good or not, all I know is that my hot keys of left and right and scroll wheel no no longer do what they are suppose to do, and I can't escape the dmmn image i'm looking at to see the next one in the folder. It was never meant to have the option to actually open any files, as weird as that sounds. It was only ever meant to open and display images when you double click on them or choose to open them with Windows Photo Viewer from right click Open With context menu. When you create an empty shortcut to Windows Photo Viewer without specifying image path, you will see what I mean - It's completely lacking any sort of File actions menu.

Photos app seized up on me - it wouldn't let me go to next or previous picture in the folder when I opened one picture. Maybe related to my Synology NAS firmware(?) upgrade, the NAS started re-indexing or something for an hour or so, maybe Windows would have needed to do the same? I also tried adding the picture folder from the NAS to the Photos app, but it wouldn't let me. I could add A folder, but not THE folder? This revert to old timey thingy seems to have done the trick, but I'd rather have a default image viewer from e.g. Adobe, or at least make this old Photo Viewer go to dark mode because it's plug ugly. After F11, it's at least not visible, but makes my 2nd screen black, hmm
