The 4th solution, "awesome photo finder" worked great for the problem I was having. I would highly recommend this bit of free software to anyone needing to check 1 folder at a time. The interface is a little clunky (no drag or drop), but the results were so easy to understand and I could delete or launch the picture from the application.

@@RndJil Awesome Duplicate Photo Finder costs no money. But it has a downside: You have to click the delete button for each picture. I had 13000 duplicates. But there is a csv export and I know a little JavaScript. So I wrote a NodeJS program that reads the CSV and deletes the smallest of two duplicates.

That first one is going to end in tears if not set to 100% similarity.. and I hope it checks pixels placement, exif and file sizes.

Regarding the 4th possible way. Is there anyway of putting some kind of space bar in one folder to separate photos. If possible, then to take all photos and put them into one folder and space out each group of photos in one folder and have it all scanned and then recreate folders when finished?

This is so hectic. Well, If you have same photos in two different formats then simply open the folder and in the search of of that folder, type the file format you want to delete, all the files with that particular format will appear, select them all and delete. Simple as that, work smarter not harder. Thank you!

Open the Photos app in the sidebar, click on Duplicates to view all duplicate photos and videos then select the duplicates you want to merge click Merge [number] Duplicates to keep the original photo and delete the duplicates. You can find the deleted duplicates in the Recently Deleted album, where you can recover or permanently delete them.
