Girl we were genuinely worried about you. And I don't mean about your hair, we were worried about *you* You seemed totally crushed by what happened, and we understand since you consider your hair to be a huge part of your real life identity as well as your online identity. But while other girls who had similar experiences came back and got sponsorships by other brands while working tirelessly to rehabilite their hair, you were just quietly doing it off camera. We are happy knowing that you're still there. We are here for you emotionally, not just hair-wise. We're not just here because of hair. You can genuinely count on us to be here for you.

After watching the Not So Pretty episode, I am far more concerned about the reproductive and hearing issues caused by DevaCurl/formaldehyde. Hair is important for sure, but now learning that the product appears to cause more damage than that, things women would not even dream of jeopardizing, is mind-blowing to me. How many other women have come forward with those issues?
@banaboom59422 жыл бұрын
I personally am concerned for the epigenetic risks that some of the chemicals they use in our hair care & other products are having on our children. I used DevaCurl while pregnant with my son, & his hair texture is surprising (it is similar to the “un-comb-able” hair texture that has been noticed in a few children recently in the news or on social media). I still wonder if those products some how played a role in the development & quality of my sons own hair texture.
@lastdays85002 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't be surprised sadly. They are putting lots of sketchy and dangerous chemicals in most things we use daily now and ingest. The Government and these big companies know what they are doing. The fact people put their trust in the government during covid made me pull my hair out. The real conspiracy is trusting the government to know what's best for us when all along throughout history they never truly cared but spread lies and half truths to us. Do more research and pray to our ABBA Father for guidance by his holy spirit. Jesus is coming soon for his church. It's time to awake and not be woke.

I'm 100% sure devacurl didn't cause those problems because it's pretty much impossible, and I'm actually surprised she isn't being sued for defamation :/
@goldielocks90922 жыл бұрын
@@ziqrek2314 How'd you know it's impossible?
@ziqrek23142 жыл бұрын
@@goldielocks9092 I remember explaining at length when her video with the first allegations came out. Citing the studies and everything. Maybe you can still find that comment if she didn't deleted it haha. But in summary pretty much no topically applied products can cause hearing loss, period. Any hearing loss would be only temporary. Even if you suffer severe allergy reactions (anaphylaxis). There are several studies about this. There was one that showed some correlation between anaphylaxis and hearing loss on animals iirc tho. The menstrual changes could be explained by a thousand things and not specifically Devacurl, given that: 1. Menstrual cicle variates with time and age 2. It is also pretty sensible to lifestyle changes 3.Even if she could eliminate those two factors (she can't, given that at least it she used the products for a couple of years and went though a really stressful period afterwards) a lot of products on our daily lives have chemicals that could alter your hormones balance: perfumes, cookware, fragrances, mascara... you name it. I'd be close to impossible to pinpoint the exact product that caused her problems. Last but not least, it's really important to remember that Correlation ≠ Causation. If you get sunburnt every time you eat an icecream you might want to blame the icecream, but we both now that icecream don't cause sunburns the sun does. Just because two things seem related doesn't mean they are, and all the "evidence" she has showed so far is just her experience. It's just correlation at best, and straight out lies at worst. All that said, I'm not saying Devacurl is innocent but that she can't even sustain her own claims with actual proofs. Following the ice-cream example, if someone randomly started saying this-brand-of-icecream caused their sunburns and hearing loss you would expect some proof of that. And if all they showed was just medical records that they "yup, you have hearing loss and a sunburn" but no proof of relation to the icecream brand you still wouldn't believe the icecream caused it. Even if a whole bunch of people would claim the same thing. They would seem like conspiracy theorist or just people that let themselves get carried away by the hype. I hope that all that made some sense. I'm pretty sure the hearing loss is impossible, and all her other claims are just extremely hard or impossible to prove.

I am so happy to see your beautiful spirit back here on KZbin! Girl, I found you as I discovered that when my hair was healthy, it is curly. My cousin was diagnosed with uterine cancer 3 years ago, when she shaved her head before the chemo and radiation took it, I shaved mine with her. It was only while it was growing back in that I realized that at 43 years old, my hair was not simply wavy in some spots, it has spirals, and coils and yes, the occasional wave. I wanted to keep them, and when I went looking for that other curl brand is when I found you. I stayed way back from that and have only used natural stuff on my hair since then, and although my hair can still get very heavy and start to pull the curls, coils and spirals into simple waves, that is when I know my hair is getting too heavy, or it is getting time to wash it. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your story so others don't feel alone and so those of us that are discovering our curls, don't fall to marketing gimmicks.

I did cut almost all my hair off, including an under shave. That was in the fall of 2020. I quit devacurl in fall 2019 and just couldn't deal with the damage anymore. My curls started springing back almost a year after I cut my hair off. I didn't use anything on my hair except hair oil and regular cleansing. I was basically gaslit into believing it was from product buildup so I was afraid it'd keep happening. The last few months, my hair really seems to have come alive. People have been commenting on how great my hair looks and asking if I've done something differently. It's great to see you were able to do this without cutting your hair off. I wish I'd just stuck it out. It was pretty traumatic though, to see how bad my hair looked, when I was taking care of it for the first time in my life. Luckily, it grows pretty quickly. Congratulations on your progress, your hair looks amazing.

But I was inspired by someone in my family developing a genetic condition that was never present in my family history, I cut out as much chemical products and I even cook more at home to monitor what goes in and on my body. It is of benefit, if the words are too big to understand on the label don’t buy it. My hair suffered with chemical processes and the more I cut out and used food home made products the better my hair looked and felt. I wish healing to all of you affected by this company and we the consumers have the power to shut them down when we stop spending with them

hello, Ayesha! i just wanted to say i am incredibly happy for you, for finding a way to channel your stress into action, for finding peace, for taking all these steps towards healing. you may not be where you want to be right now, but you had already made so much progress! you are incredible. i had never contacted you before but i've been silently thinking of you for a long time. i am delighted to see you again and to know you are taking a good care of yourself. please take all the time you need for yourself before you feel comfortable to come back (if you decide to not come back - that's good too! whichever will be the best for you), many people are cheering for you and wishing you a wonderful life. please keep treating yourself with love and kindness! may you reach full recovery soon (both mind and hair wise)

I watched your video's for a while and you helped me get serious about my hair care. Which led to me being myself and coming out. I would be devastated if that happened to my hair. It is a big part of my gender identity without it I just can't even imagine. We love you and please know you do a lot more than promote hair care. You help give people courage, spread love and feel accepted. You are amazing and we will be waiting for you whenever your ready to come back!!🥰💝
