Sorry guys for not tasting the cake. I had guests coming over and didn’t want to spoil the perfect Ziggurat before they got a look! In any case, I’d probably just say 'mmmm!' because I’m terrible at describing flavors... but trust me, it would’ve been a very enthusiastic 'mmmm!'

Just today I was looking for cake recipes from Mari (I'm studying Assyrian iconography and wanted to see whether anyone on KZbin had made some cakes from the ancient bread/cake moulds found there) and luckily stumbled across your channel, which I immediately subscribed to. Creating a recipe book like this is such an AMAZING idea, and documenting it with videos makes it even better! I don’t really think of layered cakes at all being typically middle eastern, so this was a surprise. It would be interesting to see or know how much ancient foods from Mesopotamia is still being eaten, in some form or another, by modern-day Syrians and Iraqis.

The cake looks beautiful, perfect for a wedding. How very interesting that it has sesame oil in it, too. I've had olive oil cakes before, but sesame oil used in a dessert is definitely a new concept. Also, chickpeas in a dessert is not a new idea to me. I was first introduced to this idea in Ursula Janssen's, "From Eden To Jerusalem". However, it is something that I haven't quite wrapped my head around. Another interesting thing is the ancient Assyrians preference for sheep farming. In contrast, the ancient Egyptians, whose culture was somewhat related to ancient Assyrian culture, deeply hated the practice.

Not providing the recipe in the video for the cake is very misleading in the video title, you can still get your money and deliver in the actual video the recipe. Not transparent on your side
