I love these devices that introduce deliberate constraints to the hardware. Because then min-maxing becomes a huge part of game making process, paving way for the most creative out-of-the-box thinking for tackling the short-comings due to these constraints.

When I loop through and create each grid square I pass in the index in the loop to the constructor. I just have a drop animation start when it's made but I have a delay value that's multiplied by the passed in index to create the staggered effect. Hopefully that explains it for you
