It's a little odd that the trees have no 4D "thickness" and just pop into existence all at once.
@gweltazlemartret67602 жыл бұрын
That's because they have a 3D placement inside one single plan in the fourth dimension(s). Let's make the 4thD a gradient line, if the tree is there in the plane "1", it's not there on the "2" plane. Smooth transitionning between planes (float values like '1.5') in the 4th D may have them appear and disappear smoothly. 4DMiner uses a more subtle terrain generation that makes every plane having some "4D" coherence (where there's a tree in one of the plans, there's a tree or alike in the other plans, or some more granular transitionning). Don't think it's so much of a problem tho, this technical 1D-to-4D is impressive just by itself.
@illegallynamed85752 жыл бұрын
@@gweltazlemartret6760 They still would look very weird to a 4D being, as the leaves don't go out from the trunk in one of the directions, but do in the others
@gweltazlemartret67602 жыл бұрын
@@illegallynamed8575 yeah, but you try to reason in a 3D-to-4D way; It turns out, one of the 4D planes may contain a castle, some other plane a tree, some other an ocean, some other null... 4DMiner is "wrong" as you can't predict for sure what's in another plane based on the current one, and it's actually barely more than a multi-chunk bloated on itself than a real multi-dimensional thing. (Same as multi-D spiders, harvesting a multi-D trunk or a multi-D leaf should harvest it on all the planes at once.)
@stevenroldan21792 жыл бұрын
Right… The trees in this version are 3D. They have length, width, and height but don’t really make use of the 4th dimensional component. (I guess technically they would have a magnitude of 1 in that dimension). Since the terrain is generated smoothly across all 4 dimensions, probably would make sense to have the trees make use of the 4th dimensional component too. Not sure if this is exactly how it should work, but in my mind, it would make sense for the trunk to only be in one slice (length and width are 1 block wide, so make the 4d component also 1) but then the leaves would reach out into the 4th dimension the same amount that they do into the other dimensions. If a jungle/dark oak tree with a 2x2 trunk was added, then the trunk would occupy two slices having a tree base of 2x2x2 and then the height. Haven’t played 4D Miner, from the videos it looks like it does a good job of building its objects using all 4 dimensions, not just populating slices with disjunct 3D objects. But also the perspective of that game is fundamentally different than this implementation since I think you can rotate your perspective (which would allow you to actually view the continuity of each dimension) whereas this one always orientates you the same way and just shifts the character through the slices one by one (only allowing you to see the continuity of the X and Z dimensions for any given slice)

Moot point, becaude pixels have two dimensional size. A true 1D game would be impossible to play on any type of hardware we have with that logic, since anything in 1D space would have infinitesimal height. That 1D representation used in the video is the best that could be used to represent Minecraft.

For the first two examples, you used a different perspective then the latter two, such as your viewing Steve from the 3rd person perspective in the 1D and 2D examples, as in, you the player is seeing the entire 2D/3D plane instead of what just Steve is seeing. This makes sense though, most games labeled 2D are not also labeled first person, because of the complicated and un-playable nature. It would be cool to see these examples in different perspectives.

This got me wondering whether you could have 4d walls for your house, I guess if the game stops you from moving through 4d when encountering a block, you could just move to one "side" of your house in 4d, build a solid structure filling your house with blocks, then move to the other "side" and do the same thing. Voilá, 4d walls.
@kangalio2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's exactly the way That's also how 3d walls work if you think about it: a 3d house consists of many 2d slices that are hollow rectangles, except the start and end slices which are completely filled with blocks
@LineOfThy2 жыл бұрын
You need 4D thickness. Basically, tesseracts can exist along multiple 3D planes in the way that cubes exist on multiple 2D planes. It would appear as if the block existed, then didn't, but with a longer span of "existence."

Actually, while you're at it, you might as well add - “discrete” 4D rotation (rotate XW by exactly 90°) - 4D view alignment, where you choose X, and Z, in the view to be either X and Z, Z and W, or W and X respectively. Very cool project, you've inspired me, I might code my own 3D-slice-of-4D-voxel-world myself someday too now.

You are moving through fixed amounts of worlds so your 4th dimension is actually snapped with increments of 1 and every increment is a 3D world. What would be better is to make an alternative view so you know exactly where you are in the 4th Dimension, but during transition, for example w = 0.6 you see 0.4 of the one 3D world and 0.6 of the other 3D world. That would make it intuitive to have at least 6 dimensions and possibly infinite. Infinite dimensions are easy once you do 6, but it's losing purpose. Long story short a 4D Minecraft world can have all your worlds into one.

They use 3D models despite the fact that you can only explore along the X and Y axis, Kirby 64 is a 3D game due to the fact that there is a left-right axis up-down axis and a forward-backward axis X Y and Z axis even if the Z axis goes mostly unused, it's still 3D technology. Kirby's Adventure however is a 2D game, it has only an X and Y axis, there is no Z axis regardless of how many tricks the developers used to make it seem like there's an entire world beyond where you can explore. And that "1D" Minecraft is just the same as Kirby's Adventure and other 2D games, it has a X and Y axis, even if the Y axis is unused for movement purposes, it still has more than 1 pixel on the Y axis that shouldn't even exist if it were truly a 1D game.

When we connect the brain to the computer, we will be able to see all the 3d slices of the 4d game. With the help of GPU power, of course, otherwise the brain will melt. It will be 3d vision in a 4d world

man you should collab with 4d miner

imagine you actually had ability to see world from 4d how fun would it be to see us from 3d?

also imagine that galaxy is blocked by a higher dimension????or else infinite systems exist on same place simultaneously?... if higher dimesions exist then so do multiverse, if doesn't then same goes with multiverse i hope oneday we can make vR smart and resourceful enough to see and feel how 4d feels like

Actually, if you will be in the 4d dimension and will try to look at 3d you will get nothing because you are just a 3d creature with 2d vision. But you will see some pieces of 3d if turn in some ways

@@AegisHelm yes, i can say more, but ot will be hard to understand with no visualizations

@@fel-is well really don't know about visualization but i can somewhat guess it as, in 3d cube there are edges , faces and vertexes, in 4d it'd be doubled, and object travelling thorough 4d will only appear in 3d if it's passes through all of it's faces , vertexes and edges.
