Yeah, I happened to spot this video in the related column earlier, and I thought it would be interesting to look at. Some of these recreation setups were pretty clever, and I found it hilarious how much stuff went into mimicking a gentle slope. Nintendo needs to officially make some of these things part of Super Mario Maker, including slopes of course, and also having real wall triangles would be neat. (Maybe they could make those accessible by shaking a 45° slope tile?)

Actually, there is a solution for the water (though I do believe it was recently discovered, and I mean that like it was discovered last year). First of all, you'll want to get some platforms and shake them. Then, place spike blocks across the ground to make the water hurt you. And after that, you'll want to place your platforms over the spike blocks to make it insta-kill you when you touch the water. This part is optional, but I'd recommend it since it adds more detail. Next, you'll want to place ice blocks underneath the spike blocks. And that's how you make your insta-killing water in SMM!

i actually found a way to recreate the desert theme: STEP 1: switch to super mario bros 3 theme STEP 2: fill the floor in with hard blocks STEP 3: place some different height vines with spikes on them, to recreate cacti STEP 4: add some ? blocks into the floor for texturing i recommend you use the smb3 style because switching to underground gives the level a nighttime setting!
