In case anyone is curious, the actual Dean crash was at higher speed for certain. The Ford turned left into the Spyder, then hit it around the left front wheel with full force, causing it to flip 2-3 times [edit, apparently it did not, it violently spun], . The Spyder was completely mangled, the front end obliterated, and Dean barely alive with a broken neck and numerous internal injuries, dying soon after. His mechanic, Rolf Wütherich, was badly injured as well, but survived. The Ford actually skidded some 40' past the point of impact from Dean's original direction. The movie Crash isn't a documentary about perfect recreation though, it's a pretty surreal movie.

well neither car flipped/rolled in the accident. according to all crash analysis then and now dean was going no more than 60 miles per hour, most put him at 55, (limit was 55) other than conspiracy dean is said to have died instantly at the scene but was pronounced at the hospital... all the only impact damage to the spyder is to the drivers side just a head of the left front wheel to the back of the cockpit. you can see in other pictures of the car that there is no impact on the right side. if you look at the rear deck lid you can see where dean is imprinted into it, would have been shoulder height/ lower neck, as well as the steering wheel being completely crushed and moved to the right. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKuUkHlqbM9ke6M

@@robc7812 Dean survived the crashed. Died en route to hospital. He was still breathing at the scene. Ambulance had a minor crash on its way to the hospital. That crash and the fact that it took almost an hour to arrive is what did him in. I'm sure Dean wouldn't have wanted to survive either way. Dying a legend or living a crippled? Easy choice for him.

Indeed, I also thought it looked rather tame compared to a proper traffic collision. I know it's just a movie, and they used practical effects for the recreation, but there is proper violence when two tons of metal meets another two tons at speed.

Interesting but the porche spider went up in the air and flipped a few times. Also because it was a small car with a tiny windsheld Dean's head hit the bumper of the other car. Dean's car had the engine in the rear trunk. The front of the car was really unprotected

No this is from a movie called Crash about a certain group of people that are obsessed with car crashes. In reality the sun was up and the driver of the other car couldn’t even see Dean because he was blinded by the sun. The driver of the other car was found not guilty

According to Dean's passenger, the last thing Dean said on this Earth was about the other driver right before the crash: "I'm sure he sees us". Dean was on his way to a race with "Little Bastard", and his mechanic, the passenger, told him to take it easy so as to not damage anything. My understanding is that Dean was doing the 55 mph speed limit, and was driving safely. The Porsche simply didn't have any real safety built into it. In a modern Porsche, I doubt he'd have been even slightly injured.

@fernandomaron87 Жыл бұрын
@@maddyLV21Nonsense, there's photos taken minutes before the crash while they were riding, and Jimmy is always on the wheel and Rolf riding shotgun. The reason the car wasn't towed in the first place was because he wanted to feel the car at the road, in order to prepare for the race, so whoever invented this theory is just stupid.

Did the driver of that other car really lose control, or did he INTENTIONALLY ram into James Dean's Porsche? Cuz I have SERIOUS DOUBTS that you would actually hit someone on the opposite side of a straight road like that in broad daylight, when you could already see 'em from miles away! Do ya see how that doesn't make any sense?
