I cannot understand why any adult would try to stop any other adult from actions they can choose not to engage in themselves. Laws against cannabis came to be in the 1930s as a tool of the Jazz Era to keep uppity blacks and Mexican cowboys out west under the thumb of the sheriffs an police. The book "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" by Jack Herrer tells the entire story. The American Medical Association was AGAINST it being made illegal at the time and testified so in Congress. But civil rights was starting to poke it's head up in the time and the powers that be wanted every tool to suppress the 'underclasses'. It was all race based politics, heavily influenced by the Jim Crow era laws. Cannabis suppression should join the dustbin of history.

It's been legal in my state for a long time now and dwi arrests are way down and so is drug crime. Some people think weed and meth are two sides of the same coin but nothing could be farther from the truth. I've been smoking for 20 years and I've never even seen meth or any other hard drug. People who do hard drugs know they are illegal, they don't want people knowing what they are doing, and marijuana is not a gateway drug. Do your own research and look at well the states are doing with all the tax money. There are far too many benefits of legalization to be ignoring them all making things up to make it seem as though meth and weed are the same.

Yeah that's another myth. Weed dealers are trying to make money, not hurt their customers. The worst people ever had to deal with were short bags but nobody is in danger from a weed man. It's the other way around. They have to worry about getting robbed or caught. Putting yourself out there by going after customers is an excellent way to make both happen. This is part of the reason it needs to be legalized. There are a ton of misconceptions or at the very least times have changed enough to no longer reflect those viewpoints. I'll bet you also didn't know that nowadays most weed dealers make house calls. Weed has been legal for a long time in my state but the last three dealers I had all delivered.

I oppose legalizing because I do not want Florida to become like Las Vegas or Colorado. You cannot escape the stench of pot anywhere you go. On the street, in hotel hallways, elevators, balconies...It's completely impossible to get away from it. Now, if law enforcement wants to super-enforce bans on smoking in public, I might consider it, but they have such bans in Vegas and nothing is done about the rampant smoking everywhere. Add the driving while under the influence to the mix and this is a very BAD idea. 15-20% of cars in Vegas have pot smoke pouring out the windows and the drivers are heavily impaired. Again, nothing is done about it. Yes, some people do it in Florida today, but it is not the rampant problem it is in Colorado and Vegas. We were in the Smokey Mountains in TN this past week...people in the room below us were smoking pot all day and evening on their balcony making it impossible for us to use our own balcony. For some reason, pot smokers are 500% more annoying than cigarette smokers...and pot smells so much worse. Normally, I am a less regulation, do whatever you want guy. NOT when people are doing something so imposing on other people's rights. I don't care if you smoke pot in the privacy of your own home. When it drifts into my home, or you do it in public, I care and want it banned.

I volunteered for DeSantis' campaign when he was elected. When the State AG tried to block Medical MJ after it was passed by voters, DeSantis told the AG "Let it go; the voters have voted." Now he's against it. As a Medical Cannabis card holder, it costs me about $400 a year to maintain the card, which I wouldn't have to pay if it was recreationally legal. This is about state money, not what's best for the people.

It’s really awesome, the smell of pot burning in public places. Driving down the highway and the car ahead of you is burning weed. You find friends smoking those pot vape pens all day long and they claim it’s for anxiety but it seems the pot gives them anxiety….. and jobs that require drug testing end up losing so much interest. For instance, my company has an entry level semi truck wash position that’s a full Union benefit job for $24 an hour up to 50 hours a week. Requires a diploma and clean drug screening. The position has been open for over a year after we sent the last guy to diesel mechanics school. Lots of interest, they just can’t seem to stop smoking pot… McDonald’s pays $18 an hour for 32 hours a week and they don’t care if your high at work. Pot never hurt anyone……
