The 4 adult learning styles and the questions each asks as students in a classroom. Andragogy. Understanding that adult learners require certain questions to be addressed in any teaching/learning environment is key to successful adult training. Melvin has taught the train the trainer program across the United States and Eastern Europe. The thought process explained by Melvin is based on the initial work and Learning Cycle and Styles of David Kolb (Published 1984). This is a short, sweet version of a few hours of information.

Thank you. I’m an instructor in my union trade, and while I’m not a “trained” instructor, I am motivated to be a good one. This has helped tremendously. Thankmyou

I work as a tutor for first and second year college students. Some of our students are also in remedial classes. A number of them are older adults returning to school to get the degree they always wanted, to train for a new career, or to progress further in the career they are already working in. This will help in relating to those students better. Thank you.

I don't think pedagogy (teaching aimed at kids, usually) needs to be that different from andragogy (teaching adults). Here are the main problems I, as an ADD note: A, lots of singular ways to explain something. Meaning, if I don't get it, you say it pretty much the same way a 2nd time. No, I heard you before... B teaching stuff that has ZERO implications in anything I'm interested in or care about. Example: don't ask me how to figure MPG on a car. I have two cars that are over 10 years old now. Both have the capacity to do that for me down to the tenths, so there's no need for me to do it. We like stuff that's INTERESTING and we'll remember. I'd like to see how you can differentiate between sugar and HFCS under a light with a special filter. That matters and is pertinent. From the 90s, I remember what a duck function is in sound engineering because of how it was described. He COULD have thrown all the physics and electronics in there but I wouldn't remember it. He gave a demonstration of The K-mart blue light special interrupting the PA music...that's the duck function. I'm working on AFA in music ed. Tired of the same boring way a lot of teachers operate.

Although I call it the wheel, it comes from David Kolb's 1984 work on the Learning Cycle and the Learning Styles... You can find much more by using Kolb's learning Cycle as a youtube search.

@@JCMelvin I think the problem with the original wheel is it puts labels on the learners instead of the learning styles. I prefer the way you presented the info in the rest of this video. Great job!! I’ve seen many variations of “the 4 primary people styles” & the biggest flaw (IMO) is that either an individual will mis-label themselves &/or others will mis-label the individual. If this model is intended to be used by teachers/educators, then erroneously identifying a learner’s preferred learning style could prove seriously detrimental. I also watched a similar video that went into greater detail but yours summarizes everything more succinctly. Thanks so much for sharing!!

Near the end of the video, there is a wheel with how to teach. What is the wheel called? Where can it be found?

I saw that also and am likewise greatly interested in it. I noticed it was broken down into four areas including creative, intellectual, practical, and social.

Did you mean pornography or a mature learning style you might need to be specific in this style! We are sceptical in your adult learning in all your colleges? Some people are seeing a real point of view in style if you know what I mean.

Let us be brutally honest. Lecturing *is* the *absolutely most abysmal* way to teach adults. Brain research proves this. The model shown was developed in 1984 by Peter Kolb.
