🤔I don't know that I have much experience with learning theories in the past, but I'm really interested to see how I can apply them in my new role in our L&D department! It's interesting to think about how our company's whole orientation process (which in various iterations has lasted from 4 hrs to 3 days) lacks any choice, when that's one of the pillars of adult learning. When I joined a grounds crew years ago, they asked me which work type was my least favorite and for the next year never assigned me to that crew. Even if the choice wasn't that well made, their adherence was dignifying. I'd like to confer that feeling on my learners.

That’s one heck of a story! And it’s a shame learning theories aren’t necessarily always at the heart of learning design. But they do make a difference.

loved the content. Just a suggestion please give examples of the experiential learning 4 stages. you said role play but an elaborated specific example would help to better understand the concept.Im new to L&D 😊

Thanks for the suggestion. There any many different types of role plays so it’s difficult to highlight just one. But as an example, take a conflict resolution session. You could ask two learners to present to be a customer and a sales representative and set up some kind of conflict. Then it’s a matter of them interacting with each other and practicing the techniques you’ve been teaching.

How overlooked do you feel Analysis and Evaluation are relative to Design and Deployment in a model like ADDIE? I've interviewed a few times for a Learning role but I feel like too much of an onus has been put on the web design aspect rather than the methodology to designing succinct, meaningful, and impactful training programs? Amazing content as always you've helped prep me to answer questions throughout this process.

Absolutely agree! You cannot have good design without first spending meaningful time on analysis and then evaluating the impact. We’re often surprised how overlooked these can be and find it hard to understand the design process with minimal to no prior analysis.

@@TheLnDAcademy Thank you I thought I was taking crazy pills for a second. Some of the rejections I've received have focused largely on the fact that I am not an expert with Articulate etc. Won't surprise you that I used to be a teacher but I don't want to facilitate I love living in the process which I've been conveying to employers. Just trying to get them to see the forest for the trees. I feel sane!

@BlackSheepCap as sane as they come! And by the sounds of it - you dodged a bullet with that employer!
