Thanks for the "if I can do it, you can do it" pep-talk, some of us need that lol (including myself when it comes to grilling)! Congrats on that perfect SEO score of 100 on this video as well. Followed this one along and understood the "what, how, and why" so definitely got the intent of the video across. Thanks as well for the wrap-up. Overall, another hit and keep doing your thing, still proud of ya!

Just ordered a Bullseye to add to my RT-340 and Blackstone. From what I have read and seen in RecTeq videos, is you need to build up some ash in the bottom of the Bullseye to catch the grease that makes it through the deflector plate. When you clean out the fire pot, just dump into bottom of the Bullseye. As the grease drips down and soaks up into the ash, it will dry into little clumps. Like kittle litter. So when you clean the fire pot, you also clean out any clumps in the ash.

Good Gawd......DO NOT........break in your new pellet grill this way! You need to initially clean it first , with mild soap and water. You then use a good grade of pellets and get her up to 450 - 500 degrees and cook it for about an hour! After that phase , and it cools down , you can spray / rub / wipe some Avocado / peanut / canola oil ( Your choice ) inside every where. Do another hi temp 45 min burn in. DO NOT cook any greasy meats in there without a damn drip pan! You'll burn your damn house down! This guy's video can completely cause a huge clean up mess! Jesus!

So I live in Augusta GA and live close to RecTeq. When I bought my RT700 they told me to drop a handful of pellets in the fire pit before the first burn in. I guess it give the system time to prime itself? Not sure

@@DrTasteGoodBBQ yup, I called customer support and they said yeah well as long as its turning its fine 🤨. I asked why they don't have a place for grease to drip or at least include a drip pan, they said they recommend a drip pan. Uhhh ok why wasn't it included. Still like the grill but RecTeq dropped the ball on that grease fire issue

Oh man! That grill gone yet Doc? It left yesterday. Got to say they have one heck of a customer service team. I’m not a BBQ designer, but there has to be a better way. I later found out it was running about 80-100 degrees hot after I ruined some tomahawks. Still got 5 videos to go. It’s just starting to get good. This grease fire was nasty. So nasty I didn’t think it was safe to take time to get the camera rolling. It’s been something that’s for sure.

I've had mine for months. I use it a few times a week mainly for steak, pizza, chicken and sausage. I smoked a 16 lb brisket, after trim, a week ago with it and had no issues. Worth every penny I paid for it.
@rjjenkins56012 жыл бұрын
Did you use a drip pan for the brisket? If so how did you place it?
@TheJustinbingham4 жыл бұрын
You’ve probably gotten more than a share of unwanted suggestions, but any grill that continually provides fuel will be prone to grease fires. A charcoal grill would do the same thing if you added fatty foods to coals not ashed over, unless you were choking the fire (which would leave soot everywhere).
@Edmusic733 жыл бұрын
If you called recteq they would told you you need to keep lid closed and it take 30 minutes to start then leave it for a hour for the burn in

Would putting a grease pan on top of the deflector restrict the air flow?
@DrTasteGoodBBQ2 жыл бұрын
On a side of it yes. The deflector has hole all around it though. From my experience, a pan is a better option than a grease fire.

Does the bullseye come with a grease pan?
@DrTasteGoodBBQ4 жыл бұрын
A pan? Or are you talking about a drainage system like most other pellet smokers into a bucket? Guess I have two different answers.
@Mattithias4 жыл бұрын
@@DrTasteGoodBBQ not that pan. I know the bullseye doesn’t have one of those. I mean the grease catch for under the bacon.
@DrTasteGoodBBQ4 жыл бұрын
The heat deflector has a kind of bowl in the middle then holes on the exterior of it. For greasy stuff I found that you would need an aluminum pan to catch drippings. Not included to answer your question. Thanks for asking.
