Join Grizzly Granny for her first recumbent trike ride just 4 weeks after having a lung lobe removed! As such, this is a chill, calm multi-use trail ride on a sunny January day. Enjoy the ride along, or hop on your recumbent trainer for a laid-back work-out!
ABOUT THIS CHANNEL
Join me, the REAL Grizzly Granny, as I ride my recumbent Sunseeker CSX "fat tad" trike, usually with my husband and team mate, Gary. There will be trail adventures, as well as story telling and recumbent trike accessory hacks that I have found work for me. My riding philosophy is, "Safety, Comfort, & Kindness", and I will be discussing these subjects in my videos. Although my channel is for everyone, it is "geared" for senior women, women who are new to recumbent trikes, or women who are just desperately looking for a new way to exercise and enjoy the out doors in these difficult and stressful times.

Congratulations to you! I KNOW you will love recumbents. If you are where you can try out different trikes, do so...a good fit is a must. I was blessed that when I ordered mine, it was so comfortable and I love it. I did not have the option of trying different trikes.. I would recommend (highly) getting e-assist and also a throttle. If you are out on a ride and get fatigued, it is great to have the option of a little power boost to get back to your vehicle. I use my throttle on steep hills and it is a life saver. With those options, you can use them as much or as little--or not at all-- as you wish! Prayers for the remainder of your treatment journey...and then, Happy Triking! 🙏 Blessings, GG

Just saw your video and did enjoy the ride. Prayers for a fast recovery all the way. I have an e-trike because of my balance issues, but too cold here, and way too many steep hills, so I don't get to ride that often.
@TrikeTalkin

Thank you for taking time to watch! I hear you on the balance issues. I previously owned an e-trike with one wheel forward, two in the rear...and I sat up much higher. Hills were a bit of an issue. In my recumbent trike, I am about 10 inches off the ground, and I feel safe and stable. It throttles up a really steep hill easily. I hope when your weather warms, you can get out there again! -GG

Sorry I didn't write earlier. You pre-op video really hit home with my wife and me. She has survived two cancers, breast and ovarian, and one open heart surgery to correct a defect she was born with but which was not found until she was 64 years old. So we know how fragile life is. She was really impressed with your last video telling everyone to be diligent in keeping track of their health in this age of specialists. She told her doc she needed a hysterectomy because she had post-menopausal bleeding and thought it might be ovarian cancer. Our GP and two specialists were not going to believe her, but she insisted she needed the surgery, so a third specialist finally did it and found the cancer. SO YOU ARE SO RIGHT that it's vital to Keep up with your body's signs and let your doctor know everything you feel and also, as you said, keep track of everything that's done to you. You have probably saved a life, or lives, because of the advice you gave in that one video. THANK YOU! We are wishing you only the best, of course. We love your channel.🙂 [edit] My wife's breast cancer was 24 years ago, ovarian 7 years ago, and heart surgery 8 years ago. We are grateful for every day we have together. She is your age and I'm 77.

I am so very THANKFUL for your comments and for sharing this difficult journey. Your wife is a strong, vigilant woman. Our gut instincts are usually right, and we need to pay attention to them. It took a lot of guts and perseverance for her to keep on advocating for herself throughout all those docs brushing off her very valid (and correct) concerns. I am sure you two have shared her story many times and indeed, saved many other lives in the process. Her story also proves that each trial can be overcome and there can be years to celebrate live with those we cherish. We do need to keep records of tests, and be our own health "general contractor" or advocate when it comes to these things. Do you two ride? It sure brings Gary and I joy to get out there and absorb some sunshine and breathe some fresh air during our days. I am so glad you responded, and have blessed Gary and I tremendously! Blessings, GG

@@TrikeTalkinThank you, too. I'm sure you and your husband, and my wife and me, are not the only ones who have crazy medical stories to tell. It's a miracle human bodies live as long as they do, with all those weird parts all working together to try to get everything right all the time. --- We are waiting to get my wife a trike until we pay off some debt in a few more months, and until she and her doc decided whether she needs a procedure, this time to try to eliminate the A-fib in her heart. She is understandably afraid of another invasive surgery, given her past. Bless you guys, too. Life on this planet certainly isn't easy for any of us, is it?🙂

Sounds like you have a good plan in place. My AF was much more of an issue after my heart attack, but I think between the CPAP they prescribed (my sleep apnea, made my arrythmias worse) and my regular trike riding, the AF and other arrythmias have settled down significantly. Keep me posted! Gary found his trike on FB marketplace at about half what mine cost, and it is nearly identical, which was really fun. I hope you guys have a recumbent trike business where you live, and she (and you) could test drive some different styles to see what works best for her body, and then look around for preowned. The tadpole style we ride is VERLY stable, and easy to get in and out of. She will LOVE it. --GG

@@TrikeTalkinWe'll have to just be sure to not let it slip out, while we're in a bike shop, that we're there to test ride as many as possible and then go home and search for a pre-owned one of our favorite! That might be bad if we ever needed a bike mechanic at that same place! I think we'll probably buy new because when you think about it, if you have to drive, say, 500 miles to see a used trike, you've spent money on gas, food, and lodging anyway. I ride a Gekko tadpole but I think I'd like to sell it and buy a fat tire tad either Sun or Trident with a motor. I test rode a trident fat tad and wish now I had bought it......cushy wonderfully smooth ride. Well, we'll stay in touch. Seems as if you have a pretty good handle on your health issues, but I know it's not easy. Just have fun out there and our best to you and Gary always.🙂

I did some research, and it seems that most people agree that it was a way of saying, "If all is well, I will do this or that". Coming from mountainous places like the Appalachians where, in years gone by, a flooded stream would keep people from traveling where they needed to go. I did find out the angle you may be referring to, and that was entirely not where I was coming from. We do have to be careful what we say though, as words are powerful and influential. Thanks so much for watching the video, and for giving us another consideration. Happy triking--GG

Did you go north or south from Parker on the Cherry Creek Trail? We have only done Parker north to the Reservoir. They hadn't finished the trail heading South of Parker when we rode last.
@TrikeTalkin
@TrikeTalkin 5 ай бұрын
We did both directions on this video. We went up as far Arapahoe road and as far south as the Pinery area. Gary heard it went as far south as Franktown, but we have not ridden that far south to confirm. We have previously ridden north to the Cherry Creek Reservoir and around the lake there. They have part of that area blocked off around the reservoir reportedly due to last years' floods. Thanks for watchin! Blessings, GG
