When you start from scratch and design the seat , get the fabric , cut to a pattern that, yes you had to create , and sew it up and make all the adjustments to make it comfortable, and look at your wages per hour and what the total cost of your seat with everything you required to make it , you have a far better understanding why these seat covers are so expensive. I use a Singer Fashion Mate sewing machine and thousands of meters of thread . Why so much ? Because I make lots of mistakes . The fabric I use is Phifertex and 1"webbing . Lots of bar tacking stress points and doubling the fabric across the back rest bars. Yes you too can do it but it may not look as professional as this guy!
