Our good friend Rick suggested we ride around the Black Duck reserve at Murrumba Downs, Brisbane, Australia. You would never know this place exists, as it is not signposted. There is an opening off Dohles Rocks Rd on left hand side going to Dohles Rocks. Black duck reserve does continue on the other side of the road, but we didn't explore that side on this day. After riding through a corridor of paper bark trees, the view opened up to a very pretty lagoon area. Funnily enough we didn't see any black ducks, but there were other birdlife to be seen. A little further along we took another turn to a very different landscape. I could quite easily imagine myself in a wetland area of the Northern territory. So beautiful and unique. The men had a jovial conversation about mythical hippos and crocodiles lurking in the lagoon, but rest assured we have none of them here. We do have crocodiles in Australia, but they live a lot further north. It all makes for a bit of fun. We continued to ride around the lagoon, before doubling back and heading home. It was a lovely place to ride. I hope you enjoy the ride.
