Really enjoyed this one, learned a lot. Liked the change to explicit formula and verification a lot because it was a different way of conceptualizing y as a function of x in algebra and graphs of functions.

From around 6:28 we know, ak = ak-1 + 3 for k>1 we can reorder this: ak -1 = ak - 3 --------(a) Currently, ak = 1+3(k-1) now change k to k-1 ak-1 = 1+3((k-1)-1) sub (a) ak - 3 = 1+3(k-2) ak = 1+3(k-2)+3 Thats the last value.

when he when he added the 3 to (k-2+1) how does it go from (k-2)+3 to (k-2+1)?

You’re missing the 3 in front of the parenthesis ... it goes from 3(k-2)+3 to 3(k-2+1), since 3 * 1 = 3 using the distributive law. Hope this helps!

how does this manipulation work?
@abdullahyousef35963 жыл бұрын
@@allenvallentes1338 It is just like taking the factor of 3 by 3 like 3/3 = 1 which he added +1.

Is it fine to write sub k = 1 + (3 * k) for every k >= 0 instead of what your example in the video?

Could someone please help me find the explicit form of the recursive sequence: a_n=3a_(n-1)+2? It's very important for me right now, thanks!
