Just finding this channel. I don’t find many people that are as OCD about tuning and setups as me with traditional tackle. Two thumbs up 👍

One of the best videos I've see on how to tune an arrow to your bow👍

I always learn something new watching videos. Your’s are always informative. I also enjoy seeing the tools you use as well. I’ll be 71 next month and hoping for a birthday buck. I killed many deer with my recurves. For many years I shot a 65# Damon Howatt Hunter with cedar shafts and Zwickey Eskimos. This year I want to shoot a nice buck with my new longbow. I have toyed with the idea of a new recurve Black Widow or one of South Cox bows. Time will tell. Good to see another child born unto archery. Congratulations!

Thank you very much for writing in and good luck on your birthday buck. Hope you get it! Both brands are awesome so can’t go wrong there!

Great video! I’ll be building out new arrows in a couple of days and as I’m new to arrow building this was very helpful. Thanks!

I use low temperature hot melt glue for bare shaft testing, holds everything in place but comes out easy with a little heat. Now that I'm lazy, I epoxy all the components in and cut from the back of the shaft. You do good work, thanks for the video.

It is such a great way to tune!

Great video! I love deer hunting with my trad bows. Thinking about starting a trad bow hunt club. And do hunting public videos here in WV. We have great public lands to hunt.

that was so helpful, thanks. I hope Black Widow gave you a big discount - I'm lining up to get one purely from your videos. I have to ask though... 55lb bow?!? That is astonishing!

If you have any tuning issues with 500's and don't want to run them full length there are some great heavy 600's around, eg GT trad classic XT - not to be confused with the trad (non-classic). Easton Legacy aluminum arrows are worth a try if you don't need carbon (they're cheaper and SUPER straight). The 2016 might suit you (.531 spine, 10.6GPI), or the 1916 if you want a 600 spine (.623 to be exact). With your draw length I'd definitely try some 600's!! Good luck, I like your vids.

Great video, same process here. I have also recently found that your tune changes with different string silencer configurations , I had different results with spiders, cat whiskers and home made paracord silencers . The more weight to the silencer the stiffer your arrow will fly and vice versa. I have also found that inserts of the same weight but different length will tune differently… are the iron will inserts the same length as the brass ones you are using for testing? Thanks for the videos and the time spent
@the.traditionalshots2 жыл бұрын
Great info to add! I found the same, a longer insert will make it act slightly more stiff. Iron Wills are the same length so shouldn’t be an issue there.

Where do you find the 100g brass inserts? Very good information on tuning. Love the new bow.

I was wondering if you ended up liking that solid grip trigger? I've never shot with a clicker and I've been thinking about getting one of those.
@the.traditionalshots2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I do, I still use it every so often to change things up. It takes some getting used to but it’s great!

Do you prefer parabolic’s over sheild cut, and why? Thanks
@the.traditionalshots2 жыл бұрын
I prefer parabolics just because they seem a littler quieter.

Have you thought about longer 400 spines so your point on is higher?
@the.traditionalshots Жыл бұрын
I haven't just because this arrow setup has my point on at 23 and 24 yards. So at 20, I aim just barely below what I want to hit. It has worked out really great for whitetail treestand hunting.
