I use a limb clicker for fun on my "barebow". De-clicking causes form collapse and it's nearly impossible to correct it without letting down fully and restarting from set-up. I use the same procedure as I do with an arrow clicker in Olympic style -- draw, anchor, transfer, expand through the clicker.

@Jake Kaminski: A couple years ago I asked you "how does your grip sear work". I guess this is your real answer -- it doesn't 😂 There's something going on here that's kinda like the two great violinists Menuhin and Grapelli. Menuhin was schooled since childhood to in a world that taught him to precisely reproduce classical works as they were written. Grappelli grew up in the more instinctive, informal world of gipsy violin and jazz. Or maybe I could be talking outta my ass . .

Have you looked into the Sony high speed? From my research, they shoot about a 240 fps but in camera software out puts it at 960 (“1,000”) fps. A used one is a couple of 100s vs the Chronos at 5k. I was looking for one for my archery development

I know several barebow shooters that use clickers for practise to put "muscle memory" into getting an exact draw length. None of them can shoot well.

You should look at tying in that clicker another way, if you need to put twists in your string you will change the clicker. Watch Kifarus channel on how he set it up. Clicker-string looped around the string w serving on either side to hold the loop in place.

The Clickety Klick comes with a metal ball chain to adjust the draw length, and that chain usually damages the finish on the limb on each shot. This one with the cord only seems a better choice.

I think this could be s useful tool for training new kids to get them to draw length during endurance events. Most kids I've shot with get tired after 30 shots and stop drawing the same length.

Hello Jake, I also used the clicker, it was only enough for me for 100 shots, after that the clicker didn't work anymore. The binding into the string is not optimal, I took the attachment for the cord of the arrow rest from the compound and so I can adjust the length again and again.

I've shot Klickety Klick clickers for years and featured them in My DEAD ON TRADITIONAL DVD. Since then invented a boat hasp clicker that is bullet proof and I drill and tap this hasp into my riser bottom. Pine rifle D loop cord excellent for a clicker string. The balls strings that come with klickety click ruin your limb finish and break easily.

I've used one on trad bow before wooks great , I now shoot barebow and I'm struggling not with tp as such I think I'm very strong regarding that , but I have a bad pluck out on release and can't solve it , my coach talks about focusing on my back and the release will just happen subconsciously , what do you think ? I think if I'm holding the string I'll just keep holding it until I make a decision to let it go /slip off ,

The only one thing I envy about Olympic recurve shooters is their clicker. I once tried one on my barebow and it took me only a few ends to get used to it. When I took it off again I could not cut the string loose anymore. No click - no release. ;) It's a neat thing, but dangerous to get addicted to. But yeah, why not change the rules?

Hi Jake. I’m new to archery (1 year in) and have shot exclusively barebow. I am wondering if you’d recommend a limb clicker to a newer shooter who hasn’t used one before? I have been trying to use repeating the same form over and over to combat (or prevent) TP, but I honestly don’t know if I suffer from it or now. The form concentration to prevent TP comes from the book The Art of Barebow Shooting I recently read. Just wondering what your thoughts are. Thank you!

What if you can come up with a device that clicks/taps on a timer that is not in any way related to draw length. You would have to shoot a consistent cadence. Just let down if it clicks when form or aim is off. Maybe like a metronome in your pocket.

I don't know the answer or if there is one, but when do you perfect aids for the bow such that barebow becomes virtually undistinguishable from its fancy, dancy cousin, olympic recurve? For example, I use a dropdown rest and a plunger. Are these deviations from what was the original purpose of barebow? I have a feeling they are, but I will continue to use them. Any thoughts on this abstract consideration?
@lupusverdi
@lupusverdi Жыл бұрын
The answer is pretty straightforward: WA aknowledges 3 disciplines in finger style shooting: olympic recurve, barebow and traditional. Taking away the drop away rest and plunger OR adding sight and stabilizers would remove barebows entire point of existence as it would be indistinguishable from the other 2. You could argue a clicker would put barebow still far enough from trad without giving barebowers the advantage of stabilizers. This however would certainly diminish the importance of olympic recurve and WA is heavily against that idea

Been there done that. Thankfully all of that is behind me. If you think the limb clicker is fun, wait until you finally decide to put in the work and fix your TP. And let's not hear how you tried and couldn't do it. You spent years and years and countless hours learning to shoot. Spend what it takes over a few months to gain control over your shot cycle.

If you haven't gone into competitions yet, you'll soon discover that teaching yourself to "feel" the click is more effective than hearing the click. With other shooters standing next to you with their clickers sounding off, it can trigger a reaction from you to release before your clicker goes off. My coach had me practice with ear plugs in to learn to feel the click instead of hearing it.
@cavetroll
@cavetroll Жыл бұрын
@@oscarmedina1303 I may have an advantage there. I have cochlear implants so all I need to do is switch them off an I hear nothing. My problem here is the clicker doesn't click hard enough to even cause a vibration. I've seen that people bend them but I am weary. I'm coming into recurve from traditional so I don't want to do anything that can damage my new equipment

A lower limb clicker should be legal in IFAA Barebow. WA are just happy for people to leave the sport due to target panic. Grip sear and tab sear, feather to nose is a work around but I've developed tension setting those off now. Scott Antzak has a good system for an IFAA legal low limb clicker. Scott's clicker system isnt affected by stringwalking and crawls

@@patrickmcnichols8346 yeah he's a top bloke! Really helpful and willing to share his knowledge and experience. I've used grip sear and tab sear in conpetition but found I can get tense when trying to activate the sear under pressure. The sear/Joel Turner ShotIq method has really helped me in competition and under pressure but shooting a full Olympic Recurve setup has been a breeze. It's a more natural shot process to expand through the click. The thing is to learn to shoot a shot with a process that doesn't include your pin/tip of arrow being on the dot as your stimulus to let her rip.

With as much as you have shot, I am shocked that you still have target panic. I got rid of mine in a few months shooting a compound with a back tension release. I can no longer punch any release or even with a recurve or longbow, I never have any issues of my mind wanting to let the string go before I am settled and ready. You may have to set up a compound and use a two or three finger back tension release, which today everyone calls them hinge releases because they failed at learning how to use them properly. It does not take long to completely brake the habit. If you do try the compound, don’t listen to your coach. I watched a video of you a year or two ago shooting a compound and some things you had no clue on but that’s what your coach told you. Talk to me. I will tell you how to shoot a compound. I can also shoot a target recurve. When it comes to bare bow like you have there, no. I shoot trad recurves and longbows with nothing on them.
@JakeKaminskiArchery
@JakeKaminskiArchery Жыл бұрын
I have shot for years with a compound and actually it was my first bow. I developed TP with a back tension release as we used to call it back in 2000 and haven’t fully kicked it… you never kick it but learn to manage it. Fixing TP requires a few factors and the compound release is much easier to fix it… it does the work for you and let’s go for you.
@JakeKaminskiArchery
@JakeKaminskiArchery Жыл бұрын
Of course, but self expectations in my case are far higher than the score. Knowing what a good [perfect] shot is, when chasing high performance on a world scale doesn’t allow anything less than that… this is basically the root of my TP imho.
