I was able to score a very nice 960 clearly overstruck on a Sunface 8 reales. One of my favorite coins in my collection.

I just recently ordered one of these from eBay... That's why I found the 960 Ries got my attention... I learned that most of these have been struck over a 8 reals dollar coin and some of them on coins from other countries as long as they were crown size silver... Some of them have been stuck even on early American bust dollars that are VERY rare and are worth much much more... Those would have the same edge lettering as on the bust dollar and the one's struck on the 8 reals would have that type of edge found on the 8 reals... After searching and searching for this coin that was overstruck, I wanted one with significant amount of the remaining under type of the host coin. I finally found a 1816 960 Ries that still has a very visible part of the coat of arms on the reverse and a fair amount of the portrait on the obverse that from what I can tell the date is a little difficult to see unfortunately but I'm pretty sure it is a 1805 Spanish milled 8 reals! Only the 5 is that indication.. Now, I'm doing some more research on weather this Brazilian coin type could have been used here in the early US same as the 8 reals was had any of these found their way to the US during this period... These would still have the same silver content as the Spanish milled 8 reals.. Would they have been accepted here as well?? Please let me know if you have any idea! Thanks for this video

PS Ben, Since you have asked about any other coins that are over - struck at the end of the video, Would love to see you make a video on the 1 and also 1/2 Ecu from France.. Many of these very early coins have been over -struck on existings... I have a 1702 1/2 Ecu that has been struck onto a 1694. 1/2 Ecu with that first date VERY visible! You can actually see the first date of this coin much better than the 1702 date... Collecting these over - struck early coins are so much fun and have a lot to tell.. These old coins are considered to be as old as the first dates found on them if you can see the first date on one side or the other... I guess you can say they just had a face lift during they're earlier years 🙂

Bought one on eBay. Can see most bleed through around the date on mine. Shadow letters in some reverse areas. No mintmark or date. Very big history coin.

It’s an extremely lovely 1824R 960 Reis crown from Brazil🇧🇷 with proof-like surfaces. It’s quite interesting, and thank you for showing it to your viewers. However I’m certain your elementary school teachers are extremely disappointed in your continued grammatical lapses in ending a sentence with a preposition.
