So this video was made about 6 months ago but I'm just starting this series. I love stitching by hand and abour a year ago, I learned aboyt sliw stitching. I struggle with coming up with ideas on my own or I don't trust that my idea will be good enough. Good grief, I am 66 years old and I still need to grow up🥴. Anyway, I get very nervous and uptight if people are waiting behind me. I think its a good trait though, basically consideration for someone else. Some people seem oblivious to people behind them. I at least try to be prepared and have my wallet out and everything. Anyway - we are who we are❤. Love your videos,❤

Nice video, Jeri. Great project. When I use floss, I always separate it because it helps to keep it from tangling. Also, I use beeswax. Between those two things, I don’t get knots very often. There are other thread conditioners, but bees wax is my favorite. It might be my imagination, but I also think the beeswax makes the thread move more easily through the cloth and that means it is easier on the hands. Nice quilts! Gorgeous!❤

I’m all in for your SAL. I’ll be stitching with you. I have the exact same book you’re using, but dang, if only I could find it. It’s somewhere in this apartment! Enjoyed your UPS story. I’m like you, do not like to inconvenience people, especially when folks are waiting behind me. Doesn’t take much for me to get nervous when I’m out & about. I’m watching on my big-screen TV; however, because I wanted to see you close up, I opened my iPad, so I can “pinch” the screen and get a closeup of your stitching. Please continue this format. I know you said you were nervous - you’re not used to this style of video - but you did very well. I’m sure many folks will agree. I also follow Kathryn, K3N Cloth Tales, as well as many, many others; one of my favorites is coming from the UK and another is located in Australia. But they are mostly “across the pond”! I’m excited that I’m following someone [you] that is “local.” I feel a wonderful camaraderie. I hope you understand what I’m trying to say. Please continue Jeri! Look forward to more “tales.” God bless!

Hey Jeri, 👋 Your story wasn’t stupid at all - I’m you when it comes to holding people up in queues. As soon as someone comes to stand behind me, I can feel my anxiety rising. Unlike you, however, I’m VERY disorganised, particularly in the planning department. Apparently ADHD Brains have difficulty visualising the future and it has something to do with the impaired executive function element of our particular brains’ wiring. Anyway, I’ve lost track of the amount of times I’ve had to ask the cashier to cancel a transaction part way through because I know that, unless I get out of there, I stand no chance of finding what I’m looking for. I always used to just put it down to my People Pleasing behaviour and the fact that I’ve had too many unpleasant experiences with people who lack the patience to wait and the good manners to keep their agitation to themselves…come to think of it, perhaps their Emotional Disregulation behaviour was also ADHD related …🤔 (Rabbit Hole 🐇) However, since I found that quote that I shared with you recently, I am trying to use that in order to avoid absorbing someone else’s negative emotions as well as my own, and to acknowledge that my time and sense of calm is as precious as theirs. After a lifetime of People Pleasing, which I now know was part of my Masking behaviour, my self esteem is in the toilet. Now that I’m beginning to learn more about my ADHD Brain, I’m working on that and my self-care. It’s not easy, when you also have difficulty sticking with routines for longer than 2 weeks, 🤷🏻♀️ but, having never actually witnessed anyone else behaving as I do in shops, it’s so good to know that it’s not just me that does this. I’m so glad that you decided to share your story. Best wishes Del ❤️🧠❤️
@del1336Ай бұрын
PS - (now that I’ve watched the video to the end 😊) I, fairly recently, left a comment on Kathryn K3N’s channel to say that I like the format of her Monday videos, echoes of which I see in here, because they make me think of how, historically, women would have sat in groups doing their stitching or other handicrafts, sharing stories, experiences, teaching techniques to younger members etc . (I find joy in learning about social history, and history in general). I don’t currently have any friends or family to do my handicrafts with socially, so Kathryn’s Monday videos have become my substitute for that and it really does feel, now, like crafting along with a friend and it’s a nice feeling for me. You’ve said in one of your “heart on sleeve” videos, about the acronym HALT which I hadn’t heard before, and I suffer with debilitating chronic depression. It had dawned on me, while watching this video, that the reason I’ve found Kathryn’s videos to be so comforting, is probably because they provide me with a way of addressing the “L” that I wouldn’t otherwise have, so, to have 2 Buddies to craft along with is a real treat. I’m catching up on your videos, but I really hope that you choose to continue with this format. I’m also late to the Party when it comes to learning the formal embroidery stitches, and am currently doing something similar on a scroll ( inspired by Kathryn), using my scraps, on which I’m practicing my new stitches, so it’s morphing into a kind of a Crazy Patchwork scroll and the plan is to do one each year as a catalogue of the fabrics that I’ve used or clothes that I’ve worn and a record of my progress in learning the embroidery stitches. I’m also an avid journaller, and make my own books / journals, so recording life events is in my blood. The scroll has become a visual timeline journal for me, which I can, eventually, turn into something else, if I so choose 😁 Thanks Jeri ❤️🧠❤️

Oh my goodness you just mentioned something that I've always wondered why I can't do it... and that is visualizing the future. For example, I can not for the life of me picture what a bathroom remodel will look like unless I have Brian map it out on the floor. Sometimes I even use cardboard cut outs. It always was a puzzle to me becasue most artists can "SEE" something in their mind. I see a lot in my mind but need help with some things, spacial things mostly. We are a special bunch! LOL As we get older we need to embrace our quirks and just go with it. Thank you so much for all your lovely comments and for watching all these videos! 💛💛💛
