Oh, that's a clever setup, based on the mission where Yuri sicks the Soviets on Vladimir and the mind controlled Allies he's got. I really like the concept of these flipped missions.

Yes the psychic beacon in the vanilla mission (player's soviet forces attacking general Vladimir's forces and capturing the White House) was useless, destroying would only make the GIs around the Washington monument neutral. Using the destruction of the beacon as the flipped mission's starting point for the Allies is clever indeed.

the mod is good but there a lot of "throw a bunch of shit you aren't prepared for" stuff at starts of missions so your intintial force gets butchered

tbf campaign RTS tends to be heavy on scripted events, it's ingrained in the genre.
